The goal of this maintenance is to resolve the latency issues some players have been experiencing when in the same map as someone using a saucer separation or similar power.
Thanks for your patience and understanding,
- The Star Trek Online Team
Really appreciate the quick identification and correction of this issue. It was making teamed instances with some players a nightmare for others. I had never before experienced latency and frame drops that bad in STO..even in Beta.
Any chance this will be the last time you'll do surprise maintenance? During a busy time, when most of us have the only time to be in STO cause of work...
I doubt that this will be the last surprise maintenance, as I'm currently getting a hard-core sense of deja-vu, given that I recall this exact same situation happening either last Friday or the Friday before that.
Buy a bottle of gin for some gaming lubricant. Shower and shave before drinking and gameplay (somehow seems to mitigate the next day's inevitable hangover). Log in to patch and play. Fly into a rage upon discovering that an emergency maintenance has been declared on a Friday night, let alone at the kick off of a holiday weekend (ya know, when we adults mostly have family obligations, that preclude our playing throughout the weekend).
I'm really hoping this seeming routine doesn't end up like that TNG episode which featured a cameo by Frazier Crane, commanding the Miranda class U.S.S. Bozeman!
Yet, I'm thinking it might somehow, until May 21st...when things will likely become inevitably worse for a while, before they get better.
I thought this was star trek ONLINE? Right now its star trek OFFLINE! I like that your doing maintenance but seriously on good Friday????? And at a core hour of the US play time?????
My sentiments exactly. Refer to the above as well.

If the server has going down for three to four times, within a few weeks, I think there is a serious problem.
Are you telling paying customers to 'shut it'?

Since "Star Trek: Online" has gone down three to four times, over the past few weeks, I hope they are able to fix the problem.
