Voth from Voyager

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW9ij_k1m4Y

They had a City Ship 100 times bigger than voyager. 20 million years in space would have brought technoligy that could keep the Borg on its knees even now!
T
The caretaker race. The very story of the voyager series. This race is very advanced!

The think tank this small group had abilities far beyond most races in the Delta Quadrent.

These are just a few from the Voyager series. What other advanced races with Technology for more advanced than Starfleet are possible stories and content for STO now!

The possiblities are limitess!!

Please list any races you remember from Any Star Trek series even the animated series!

    Untapped races eh?

The Tellarites. This noble race of short statured pigmen founded the Federation and gave it the sheer stubbornness it needed to succeed against Vulcan obstructionism. With a rich and interesting history of space flight that stretches back well over 400 years this race is a font of interesting ship, story and mission ideas that has, thus far, gone entirely untapped.

whale probe people! well, not sure what we could do with that, but some super powerful space entity encounters would be cool, like nagilum, or chaotica, or that freaky casino that wont let you out. also the bynars could have some cool abilities. oh and future guy...
    Fleet: Stargate-Union
    Pizza: Pepperoni

Okay I know this is unrelated but due to the way you spelled things it's deserving!

    Ermahgerd! Erts Ster Terk!

But seriously. I agree that these technologies should have been adopted by now even with the timestream change and especially with timeships flying around, wouldn't their databases give us a better handle on things. Like the think tanks armor. where is the console for that because that would provide the best overall energy resistance.

But honestly since this team has an aversion to the superiority that science provides i doubt that they'll actually do anything about this lack of advancement because they can't even balance science skills properly honestly.

The only encounter I want with the whale probe people is one where we can shove several quantum torpedoes down their throats for their arrogance and carelessness.
Bonus points if we can drop humpback whale carcasses on them.

    Voth from Voyager

"Distant Origin" is my all-time favorite episode of Voyager. There are many Voth fans around here. And, based on what the devs have said from time to time, there is some consideration towards how they might be brought into the game. Keep your fingers crossed.

Tamarians really deserve a good shake. They were one of the notable races to join the Federation in the Path to 2409, but they seem to have just vanished into the cracks of Federation society.

You'll need some good health insurance for the writing staff, though. They're all going to get aneurisms writing their dialog.

I have to wonder if the Deferi were originally supposed to be Tamarians, because they strike me as very similar only switching incomprehensible babble for annoying smug talk about "balance".

I would like to see revisits to Iota, (piece of the action) to find out what they did with McCoy's communicator.

a story arc going to Ferengenar

we have the kitty people, but her know nothing about them

a run in with the First Federation maybe someone stealing a Fesarius class ship and raising hell.

for non-canon, I liked those bird people from the animated series

I remember reading that for the Star Trek Anniversary on DS9 they originally wanted to go to that planet, where they all become copies of Star Fleet almost like a Trek convention.

I think Cryptic should revisit that idea and make a Giant Star Trek convention planet.

This makes me want to look up the Memory alpha list of races and compile data on which one are seen/mentioned in the game in some way.

For TAS races, there was one episode commissioned from Larry Niven; his initial story was rejected, so, up against deadline, he reworked his Known Space story "The Soft Weapon" into the animated episode "The Slaver Weapon". This therefore introduced the kzinti to Star Trek, because for reasons of which I'm unaware (maybe he just didn't think of it), Niven didn't change the antagonists to Klingons.

Of course, in STO the kzinti would probably be a minor race off in some newfound sector of the map, because - well, let's take an excerpt from Ringworld:
The Man-Kzin Wars had been numerous and terrible. Had the kzinti won the first of these, mankind would have been a slave and a meat animal for the rest of eternity. But the kzinti had suffered in the wars which followed. They tended to attack before they were ready. They had little concept of patience, and no concept of mercy or of limited war. Each war had cost them a respectable chunk of population and the punitive confiscation of a couple of kzinti worlds.

For two hundred and fifty years the kzinti had not attacked human space. They had nothing to attack with. For two hundred and fifty years men had not attacked the kzinti worlds; and no kzin could understand it. Men confused them terribly.
As you can see, if the kzinti lived in any of the more traveled parts of the Alpha or Beta Quadrants, they would have run smack up against the Federation, Klingons, or Romulans, which would quickly have been followed by all-out war (the only kind kzinti fight). In the case of the Feds, that war would have wrought considerable devastation on Federation worlds; the Klingons or Romulans would have almost certainly moved to exterminate the entire species. Kzinti have no surrender reflex - when they fight, it's to the death. (The Kzin Embassy to Earth, in Ringworld, included one member, very low-status, whose sole job was to apologize if it ever looked like a fight might break out between another ambassador and a human. Those fights had turned out poorly for kzinti in the past - but no kzin could just ignore a challenge, even if no challenge was intended.)

A race that spends most of it's time on starships sleeping would not be very efficient..

I haven't seen the episode in forever, but I recall they spent most of their time awake eating.

No, they just needed a massive feed after waking to replenish the nutrients they used whilst hibernating.

    -Kzinti-

It was easy to miss, but back when the Ferasans were introduced there were some of people asking "Why not Kzinti?" and a few of the devs posted on the boards and admitted that they wanted to intro the Kzinti but copyright, IP, and (IIRC) CBS issues had pretty much permanently torpedoed any hope of the Kzinti getting into STO so they made the Ferasans instead.

In those posts it was pretty heavily implied if not outright stated that the Ferasans were Kzinti by a different name.

Wasn't there a race in TOS that was very "Q" Like in the way they acted and even some of their abilities?
You think that your beta test was bad?

I don't know the name of the race, but there was one that seemed to show off many of the same abilities that the Q had.

Gary Mitchell? Trelane? Metrons? Organians? Gorgan? Charlie?

    See? Lots :P
    Bet I've forgotten a few.

However if you mean the closest to Q's powers and personality, that'd be Trelane.

But Trelane was merely the child of some parents. And he had to be told to place nice with his new toys or come back inside the house/continuum/wherever. :)
