Ive seen this beauty around for a few years, the Kerchan Warbird. Longer than the D'deridex but less mass I think, sort of the way they did the Galaxy to the Sovereign.

What's the design philosophy behind the elongated neck??

Disclaimer...I just think all of these ships look great. Kudos to the mod makers and designers that made them and thank you very much for posting images of your fabulous work. I think if Cryptic took half of these type designs or used them for a basic starting point...then the Romulan's would have a killer looking fleet of starships for combat against it's foes.
Not a fan of the "Griffon" - the open neck is ridiculous.
The Draconarius, or whatever, is a Winged Defender from FASA. Dunno if they could ever use that, but the Valdore swept-wing concept is a good update for it.
What's the design philosophy behind the elongated neck??
I think it's called "copying from the Klingons" considering after the Romulans got their hands on the D7s, all canon ships of theirs we've seen have a neck.
Maybe we could get some of the ships from "Birth of the Federation". The light cruiser and strike cruiser were nice looking. Models need more detail obviously:
I hope they stick to canon Romulan ships, and make 25th century versions of them. OP's proposals are really ugly.
I tried something like that once.
I know it's just fan-fiction like a bunchof the Bridge Commander ships, but maybe they'll do something remotely similar:
Despite the retcon BS, the Romulans didn't enslave Remans before Star Trek: Neme****s.
Is that your opinion, Paibok, or do you have a source?
What do we know about Remus from canon? Well, the Romulans settled on the planet Romulus (in the same solar system) during the 4th century. This means that they've had approximately 2000 years to decide what to do with/to the Remans. Also... Remans are known to have been used as bodyguards during Archer's time.

it's essentially a Nemesis-era refit for the Romulan D7.
The idea I had previously was similar, except the Romuland modified a D7 in adding a rollbar between the Warp Nacelles. And the D7 Engine Housing was removed.
This ship would be the Romulan answer to the Consitution Refit and the K'T'inga.
And then the first true Romulan Warbird comes based off the D7 modfications, where we start to seeing the modern hawkish look. Which would be the answer to the Excelsior. Then another version that's the predecessor to the D'Deridex, which was the Romulan answer to the Ambassador, and likely the first ship to have the Quantum Singularity drive. (Which given the oddities with the Romulan Singularity, could be partly responsible for the temporal vortex forming at Narendra).

Sounds interesting.
It reminds of the Romulan ship from the "Time Crime" comic:
I based the idea on the "Serpents Among the Ruins" novel that the Romulans had already begun to refit their D7s by the time of Star Trek 1.
Given what some of the the oher "Lost Era" novels indicate, the Romulans actualy bought a lot D7s so it would make sense to design some kind of upgrade pattern.
My first attempts to try what you describe (with a rollbar) looked kinda stupid...so in the end I tried to apply Mogai-style features to it.
That seemed to work a bit better.
I also removed the D7 engine housing and moved the impulse engines into the wings (which is why they are shaped differently).
As a result I moved the shuttle hangar between the necks, which would also fit the concept we see on the Warbirds that slo have large doors facing forward.
Anyhow yes and no. It is connected, but my idea is a straight-line rollbar, while the comic is curved like a warp ring.
I actually got the idea one day entering Omega Leonis one of my Klingon toons, saw a Norgh BoP and a K'T'inga lined up nicely where it gave that illusion it was a K'T'inga with a lower rollbar and two Impulse engines. And ir occurred to me that would be a perfect way the Romulans would evolve their starship designs.
Start with the rollbar that it eventually evolves to the Romulan dual-hull of late 24th Century ships.
No chance of it ever happening, but I'd love to see a romulan ship based on the Defiant/Vigilant/Gallant anyway. I was trying to find a picture of it from BC : Kobayashi Maru, but couldn't. Loved to fly that ship.
He he, that stands for 'Vault Retrofit-Prototype Mark Zero.'
Which depending on player to obtaining rarity chance, would
be one of many lore wise. Reproduction based on lost schematics.
No doubt to be found in the Vault, by Obisek and the Reman Resistance.
Is that your opinion, Paibok, or do you have a source?

Lmfao - do I have a source? Why yes, actually, I do. Everything that came out --->BEFORE<--- (and you even quoted it) Star Trek: Nemesis. Just rewatch TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, and all TOS era movies and point out one episode or theatrical release where Romulans are using Remans prior to Nemesis or Enterprise.

Unless you can point to an episode/movie that contradicts the existence of Remans, your argument doesn't stand.
We didn't discover the Hierarchy until near the end of Voyager. Does that mean they don't exist?
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them." -Thomas Marrone
They hadn't put the Valdore in the game yet. Which is supposed to be a much bigger/tougher ship than the Mogai Escort. Which is listed on the movie as a Warbird, not a little escort. Unless I'm wrong and they are using it for the Valdore type.
The sky is the limit on what they can do. Since there isn't many Romulan ships ever made it to TV. About like the Klingons. So there is a lot of game made models to design.

Fleet Admiral Stowe - Dominion War Vet.
I've always liked that design from the DC Comics series. The merger between a traditional D7 and the design components that would come to define the D'deridex makes a sort of sense. In those movie era comics it served as a means of joining two distinct and recognizable periods in Star Trek history together. This design appeared in a number of TOS comics. If I recall correctly, it was adopted as the standard movie era Romulan design for the DC series. Did this ship class ever receive a name? I was glad to see this mentioned in this thread, and I'd love to see something like it in-game.

Nothing states that the Romulans hadn't enslaved the Remans centuries earlier and just didn't consider them worth mentioning to the Federation.
What we know from Canon is that Romulans settled on Romulus AND Remus. Thus the 2 planets in the Raptors claws.
Like the Romulan Alliance System? Of course you do, it sounds fine to you because you aren't Romulans, you're FED or KDF who are going to make a Romulan alt, it makes a HUGE difference in perspective.

Depending on your source, the Valdore is described as one of three classes: a Valdore, Norexan or Mogai type Warbird.
Secondly, the STO Mogai is on par with the Valdore in terms of it's size. It's not a stretch to conclude that the two are from the same line (though not necessarily the same generation) of vessel. A vessel that, by the way, is larger than most medium to heavy cruisers.

The patternwork is truly something. Very nice general shape as well. Not 100% sure about the use of red though. Too much contrast?
