    That would be y-axis not to be a word splitter or anything.

    X is strafing, Y is jumping and Z forward or backwards


    You could unlock up and down movement without allowing the ship to rotate or dive if you think of games with a jetpack that elevates you holding space button.


    Anyway, missing alert system, piloting from bridge and 3D space movement was what kept me from subscribing to STO when it was first released not even kidding.

    No, Trek ships shouldn't be able to fly upside down. But they should be able to adjust relative elevation without adjusting orientation.
