They should have a Fleet Exeter before the Movie Launches

born2bwild1born2bwild1 Member Posts: 1,329 Arc User
The Exeter is the closest thing to match the look of the Enterprise in the JJ Trek movie.

Probably be a good Idea to have an Fleet version availible before May?

won't happen, CBS would not allow it since it looks too close to the Constitution letalone the fact you can put a constitution skin on it.

Skins can always be locked. It also looked awesome in the F2P launch trailer - and was not acting like a T2 ship.

They would get lots of sales from newbies after the movie.

I support the Fleet Exeter idea. I would also support a T5 Connie retrofit. CBS not allowing it is just silly. Why not? We already have many T2 ships with endgame replicas that by the logic prohibiting the Connie or Exeter from being endgame viable, should also not be in the game. But yet there they are. Excelsior anyone? Let folks fly what they want. And fix the Galaxy Retrofit while we are at it so it's not a glorified garbage tow. I know it will just kill some peoples' souls to have a Connie or Exeter T5 model available to players, but they wouldn't have to fly them. Personally I would love to put on my TOS uniforms and fly a TOS era ship in the endgame. The stated reasons why this hasn't happened have already been invalidated by other ships getting the T5 treatment.

Don't let it go to your head. ;)

But yeah, CBS not allowing it is just plain silly. That would be a best seller in an hour.

First off they would sell tons to existing Fed players - especially if they made it a decent crusier.

Then they could spotlight the T2 version for new people coming to the game from the movie.

Then spotlight the fleet version in a few weeks after to get all those new players who have hit lvl 50.

I see it as a win-win: more sales of the lower tier version and more of the fleet modules.

The connie is a different issue. The Exeter closely matches the ship seen in the JJ Trek movie, I don't see that as being anything but a good thing.

And she has a decent turn rate already of 9 - perhaps a Fleet version refit could justify a bump to 10:) The first Fed crusier with a 10 turn.

It's been said by others elsewhere but it makes sense to add here:

I keep throwing money at the screen but nothing is happening.

just lock out the connie skin like they did with the exploration cruiser retro (can't use the celestial or envoy skin)

the other T2 ships are int he fleet store so at this point why not. it will still be better then the galaxy

Damnit I'm holding back making a thread. for the last 2 years I've worked on Builds and specs for a Fleet Cruiser Retrofit and whatnot. WITH THE T2 CONNIE SKIN. I don't want to risk posting any of that because I don't want to be banned and/or I don't want to be on John Van Citters TRIBBLE about it for the next year.

I very much doubt this would ever happen. Cryptic have made it perfectly clear that CBS has vetoed it.

Although, the CBS excuse is getting more blurry with each non faction ship they release. Should it actually happen, all bets are off......

This exactly - lock the skin. Besides Exeter and connie are 2 different things - one represents the "old" star trek - the other(Exeter) represents the look of the "new" Star Trek - aka JJtrek

CBS should want to be promoting the look of the new Star Trek, so a ship just like the one in the current movie actually makes sense vs the old series look.

Perhaps that is why they don't want the connie look at T5 - they would have lots around and that would be confusing to most of the new generation of JJ trek watchers who are used to the Enterprise looking like the Exeter.

    Nice sig:)

But you really should bump the hull to 42k and the turn to 10

T2 turn is 9 - so making the fleet refit turn 10 is perfectly reasonable.

NO! You're NOT going to get a Fleet Exeter. You're NOT going to get ANYTHING resembling a constitution class starship! Get over it! It's done! DECISION. FINAL. GAME OVER!

The stats are all just me guessing off the top of my head. So don't take them as anything other than that, a guess.

The compelling part of the sig is the fact that there's a Fleet versino of the other T2 ships. There really should be a fleet Exeter.

Both Cryptic and CBS are in the business of making money. The Exeter represents/visualizes the"new" Star Trek enterprise that they want people to know - aka JJtrek Enterprise.

I don't believe they want the "old" connie look anywhere, because most of the new viewers of JJtrek are under 35 - hence they weren't even born when the first movie came out - and even the update version of the old connie.

The Exeter at Fleet level flying around everywhere would = visibility with the new star trek = money.

The last star trek movie made as much money as all those before in combined.

PWE and Crytic are here for the money - follow the money and that will be the FINAL DECISION!

IMO, it's a matter of when the Fleet Exeter makes an appearance. The OP suggestion of timing it with the next Abrams film works as well as any other date as far as I'm concerned. I mean, come on. While not identical, most forum user's called Exeter out as looking close to the Abrams version the day it went live.

I do think a Fleet Exeter will include the T2 Constitution costume as well.
As what was said regarding the Constitution as an endgame starship was specific to the T1 USS Enterprise aka original series Constitution. Not the movie version we find at T2. I wouldn't want our newer forum user's to be confused on that point. ;)

I really don't see the similarities of JJprise, and the Exeter

    JJprise front

    JJprise back

    Exeter in game Cryptic version

    Exeter
how it would look in Bridge commander

if anything the Exeter looks more like this famous internet Enterprise

I think it is the top of the JJtrek version and the "bumps" at the front of the Nacelles - plus the pylons that make it look very similar to the Exeter.

they could always do a little skin work to make it look even more in line with JJtrek.

You know, I've never been much for the original Constitution class, but that internet one I actually kinda like...definitely looks like the original but also feels more up to date, more 21st century...definitely better than that monstrosity JJPrise.

Want a Exeter and lock the constitution skin sure, just those stats in that sig I don't know about, seems just like a assault cruiser that gives up a tac console and some hull to be more agile.

So it can outturn and outlast the Fleet Heavy Cruiser (Turnrate 9, 39,600 HP)?
    I don't think so Tim.;)

On a serious note, I bet that is what PWE does whenever Cryptic tries to get permission to make the game more "Star Trek" ;)
