Consoles and Carrier Pets

Do consoles have any effect on carrier pets? Such as a tac console buffing weapons, a flow capacitor console buffing energy drain, or an armour console improving pet damage resistance? I think it makes sense that these would NOT be buffed, since it's the carrier that has the console, not the pet itself. But still, I gotta ask... :)

    No they don't.

Not that I've ever noticed, which is why the 12 Orion Slavers my Vo'Quv throws out only hit for something like 170 damage each.

Then again, that's a dozen 170 damage beams...it's probably best they aren't buffed any further. If my stacked Disruptor Consoles increased my pet damage, I wouldn't even need weapons anymore, just point and yell 'KILL!'

Note: I actually don't recall what my Slavers are throwing out, but 170-ish sounds right.

Actually, the Power Siphon Drones and Tachyon Drones state in their descriptions that their drain abilities are modified by the player's Starship Flow Capacitors. So science consoles that boost this skill do affect them.

Beyond that, it's assumed nothing else does since the revamp to skills and consoles from like 2 years ago.

(I secretly want to believe that Flow Caps also affects Orion Interceptors' drain, but I have no proof of it... just like using them :D )

It would be nice if we had ways to boost the abilities of our Hanger Support.

I'd like a single universal console slot that could be used to shields, weapons or hull for our Hanger support based on which type of console we slotted.

I hope that someday we'll be able customize the load out one our Hanger Support like weapons, shields and engines.

On the contrary, just about every fedside carrier pilot I know (including myself) would drool at the ability to customize their fighter wings.

The balance argument between faction specific carrier pets is a different issue altogether.

The pets are just an extension of the player in that many stats of those fighters and/or non-controllable pets are effected by player stats and/or buffs.

This is something you have to check on a case by case basis though.
You know Cryptic has Jumped the Proverbial Shark when they introduced Tractor Pulling to Star Trek Online! :D
