Ship tier pvp and pve

Not sure if anyone thought of this. But what if instead of space events being based on level. Be based on tier instead? Example; If you jump into a pvp match you would pick a ship tier to use for match. Or in pve if you go into a mission the ships would match what ever tier your flying rather then your level.

I think would let some of us who have some lower tier ships we like a chance to use them more. and make for interesting play.

Not sure how hard this would be to set up. or even worth it. but like to see what everyone thinks. thanks.

    So.. Connies with Mark XII weapons versus Sabers with Mark IV's?

    No this is ship only there are 5 tiers. And would be matching tiers. Tier 3 ships Vs Tier 3. And such.

    Always thought this would be a fantastic idea; if only because I preferred lower level PvP to endgame PvP. There would need to be some kind of automatic de-leveling of gear, to make sure that 'natives' to that tier aren't totally outclassed by higher level visitors though. Probably need to disable any captain powers not appropriate to the tier too.

    Even if you use full admiral skills and gear. The size of ship would change your fighting style with smaller hall. I find as a Admiral with a tier 2 ships (cruiser) I can beat a NPC Cruiser of same tier. But have a hard time with a higher tier NPC Tier ship.

    This can be fun, I've done it with my fleet. The only issue with it is that if you allow max level gear on the ships, there is a clear optimal strategy: attack the hull. Transphasic torps, plasma energy and torps, anything else that bypasses shields. Even a little bit of shield bypass or DoT on a Mk X-XII weapon is a lot of damage when you have only 10-12k hull. With limited Boff powers for healing, there's not much you can do to stop it.

    It's fun if you're doing it among friends, but there would need to be some kind of power scaling if it became an official PvP mode. It may even need to ban high end set and reputation gear, similar to how STFs ban shuttles.

    I have had same problem with higher tier ships Vs lower tier. But I think would be a blast to pop in a pvp match or on some patrol and just have ships fitting tier being used. rather then level.

    And yeah. in a match or area it would see the highest ships and set it to that tier. makes more sence to me then a tier 1 ship taking out a tier 5 npc ship when your first starting.
