So I'm considering buying the pack for all three ships soon. But I'm needing some serious advice on a good build/console layout for the main ship. I'm gonna equip all consoles on the tac oriented ship, considering my toon is a tac va. Any suggestions on weapons and consoles to load with it?

Why do you want to buy a science ship when you're a tactical officer? You'll be greatly reducing your effectiveness in combat. The Vesta is a healer/tank depending on your setup. Setting it up for a tac completely defies the ships purpose.

You'd be surprised how effective Aux cannons, Particle Gens, PSWs and Tactical captains are.

And that's excluding all the tricks the Vesta comes with innately.

Having all three I did the same thing. No, your not going to have the same DPS as if you were in an escort but that being said you will be effective with the appropriate build. The unqiue powers that come with thisnship as well are interesting, however, the most useful imo is the heal and shield. The phaser lance itself is ok but dont expect it to be your failsafe weapon.

    Weapons:

    Fore:
X3 DHC Phaser (remember this is a phaser boat in lieu of its unique weapon)
    Rear:
X2 Phaser Turrets and Cutting Beam OR Torp of your choice. Wide Angle is nice if you own it!

The ship comes equipped standard with DHC thatbhit the 405 dps mark. However, XII fleet also work nicely, or if you prefer remove ghe weapon console and use AP XII, etc...

    Shields/Engines/Deflector:
Borg Set (disable visuals) This increases your hull significantly and the borg tractor beam frees up BOFF powers. It also works well with the Vesta's unique weapon console.

    Engineering:
Neutronium, Rom ZPE and Tach Console

    Science:
I place all the Vesta's unique consoles here along with the assim module

    Tactical:
    Phaser relays to increase dps.

You will have to decide which Vesta is the best set up. I cannot recall now which ship I used but I chose the one that gave me the best balance of consoles at that time. Inevitably I reskinned the ship to reflect the tactical model.

I once pugged The Cure Elite and aside from the fact my team just would not move away from the Kang, I inevitably took out the nanites and cube alone! Its a great set up and changes the way you normally play. The heals are great as they give you an opportunity tomadd a new dimension to game play. Also, admittedly, the fact that this ship also comes with built in abilities such as target engines, weapons, etc... Means you really have some leeway with your Boff sci abilities.

In PVP the ship does wonders at healing friends whilst the Fermonion shield is useful in so much that so long as you are not the primary target you will be fine. Otherwise your simply delaying the inevitable. I did use the special weapon nce against an enemy ship in PVP and surprisingly it did literally tear the ship apart. However, I had eaten through its shields first so that it would be against its bare hull. Again, I would not think of this weapon as a fail safe though as, ost times in Elite and PVP it is lacklustre.

If you can be happy throwing heals and understanding your role on the team than its a great ship, very agile and fun and it was worth it imo to buy.
