Use of Repair components in STF's

chaz200565chaz200565 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
So often I have noticed that many players never repair their ships after respawn.
I always check for damage on my ship, and if there is any there,i use the necessary repair component to fix it.
Leaving a damaged ship not repaired makes it worse, and also lets down your team members too.

You dont have to repair your torpedo launchers when you dont fly with torpedos. <---Is what those people think^^

I tend not to bother repairing my sickbay until I'm back at starbase. The crew will all be dead in 30 seconds or less anyway, regardless of what I do.

Existing damages or injuries will increase the chance for more severe damages or injuries.

Repair Your ship and heal Your charakter at least between Elite content missions and You will see Critical Injuries/Damages pop up less often.
Even better: always have stacks of Minor and Major Components and Regenerators in Your bank so You are able to heal minor and major injuries/damages during an STF. Your teammates will be grateful.

Hopefully as part of the upcoming UI changes, one of it is an easier repair system. Because the one we got now is a mess having to open repair window, selecting the correct ship you are flying, and repair it. Which in an STF, is a pain since time is of the essense, compared to normal PvE.

Bit off track, but I would also like Cryptic to add a mechanic that prevents people from entering an STF or Event while Damaged or Injured.

This right here. A lot of injury types are just plain irrelevant to a lot of builds, so it's best to just wait until I get back to the Starbase after the mission is over, instead of wasting a component on it. Aux system damage? Don't care if I'm running an Aux2Batt build.

tbh it does not take that much time. the timer you get on the first death is enough to do this quickly, unless you wanna chat about the wheather in the meantime

its not like you also benefit from the actual aux power being high and not only from the technician doffs...

No, it doesn't. But you rather get back into the fight than fumbling with windows.

my point was, that you cant fight anyway :) ofc if you have a shipname that is after your shuttle's name in abc order, then this time might not be enough. still the best way to fix that, is not to die

The ship name does not matter, the shuttle is always selected when I open the window. My shuttle is named "Zzzzz."

Injuries are more of an annoyance than a problem for me. I carry components and fix them, but only because I don't want to go to a starbase to fix them later. The components are free from random drops anyway. IMO, repair items should just be automatically used when you get an injury.

Injuries only become a real issue when they build up, which means people who die a lot. I think it's sort of kicking 'em while they're down. Then again, if they die that easily when uninjured, they can't be all that effective anyway.

And then there's of course those people who come in with dozens of pre-existing injuries just to provoke the complaining types. For those cases, I can only say "Don't feed the trolls."

Where in the story missions does it train you to use componants to repair your ship , how many places ? none i can remember

Your first batch of tutorials has one mission that tells you about it is all i remember

Things like this imo should be in many of the story missions as training
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

in the U menu, the ship and shuttle are in abc order, so if you go from there, the abc order should help there atleast :) ofc the injury menu is a whole other thing

also the most injuries I have seen on one ship was fifty (there is a pic of that somewhere in worst stf topic)

50! I didn't even think that was possible, how could the player not notice how useless his ship was performing? Tut tut.

I repair my ships every time I respawn, it takes so little time you may as well have your ship in full working order before jumping back into the fray - especially with energy/torp weapon or shield damage that could hinder performance.

As already stated: The more injuries, the higher the chance you get a critical one.

People who gather more than 2 injuries at a time should be auto kicked from the running STF and then banned from new ones for 24 hours. Simple as that.

    It comes down to laziness.

Most puggers are lazy, could care less and let other people do the work for them. Why bother repairing when they don't care about the optional anyways. I don't care if its a sickbay or torpedo launchers you don't have. The damage is taken as a whole against your ship, not single station specific.

Damage and injuries allow the chance for even greater injuries and damage reducing your overall effectiveness ((Read DPS)) as a team asset. You turn into a detriment.

Fix your ships. Heal your character. Lazy fraks.

Heh, lookie what the guaranteed loot award systems has brought to the game: bad builds, bad playstyle, overconfidence because they bought primo gear with junk from a vendor but didn't get the knowhow to use it, leavers, etc. The pre-S7 crowd remembers how important their ships health was to earning the mission reward, it was performance based and a little luck.

Perhaps the devs should think about these things when they cater to the instant gratification crowd, and make game changes that bring the inexperienced to the end-game.
    HEAL YOUR SHIP, ROOKIE !!!

I don't have any minor components. I just unloaded them because I didn't think I could get ship injuries in the standard mode. Now, I can't find any anywhere or find out who it is that's suppose to repair the ship in Spacedock. Can anyone help?

Ship Equipment vendors sell Minor and Major Components under Consumables. You can find one in every Spacedock. Also if you are out of Critical Components you can get your ship repaired there. For example in Earth Spacedock the Chief Engineer is just before the elevator to Shipyard.

Yes, you can buy Major and Minor from the Shipyard Vendor at any Starbase (or Ferengi @ Drozana). You can only optain Critical Comps thru "drops". But the good thing is that they do not have to be in your inventory to use them. They are useable from your Bank.

And all Starbase Shipyards have an Engineer that will repair your ship for free.

cant you make criticals with the help of your engineer boff in your ship? I remember something like that, tho its easier to just buy them

I ran out of component once. S*** happens :)

However, it shouldn't be possible to join any STF with injuries.

Then I must be doing something wrong. Every time I talk to the Chief Engineer there hasn't been an option to repair my ship. I'll try again. I'm at Earth Spacedock right now. Haven't tried the "consumables" menu with the vendors. Never would have thought of that. Thanks.

Ok, that was weird. It's repaired. The option was right there at the top of the dialogue box.
