So one of the things someone said a while ago was that the next update might include a pvp revamp? Because that would be fun, something challenging that's not the same STFs I've already done. And I've leveled 2 Feds and a Klingon. I guess I could try to outfit him with Omega gear.

I'm here because I love Star Trek and really want to have more of a Trek experience. Just all feels so generic. I can't believe that they haven't added more minigames too, and the radiation thing was just the analyzing thing they already had rotated 90 degrees. And I like the space combat and my ship, but last time I got excited about new ships there wasn't much to do with them. It was like, "Damn that's pretty. But ISE again?"

It's weird that I hate grinding, but I started liking TOR just because there's a sense of characters occasionally. The FEs kept me coming back here, even though Cryptic desperately needs to hire someone who knows how to write.

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping I was missing something but, eh. Hopefully pvp gets revamped. Otherwise it seems like the only way they make things tough is just to require a ton of DPS so you have to fly an escort.

    1. I am a Star Trek fan.
    2. I love to look all the nice starships from all sides and control them. (Especially if the textures are complete)
    3. I played a lot and my main toon is awesome.
    4. The collection of equipment I collected is awesome.
    5. I payed more money than I ever wanted.
    6. I'm a fleet leader - even when my fleet is about to vanish atm - I will not abandon it.
    7. I hope the game will improve again.
    8. same as 7.

    1. It's free.

    2. Real life friends/family playing the game.

    3. It's Star Trek.

I actually spend very little time playing STO, but if it weren't for those three, LotRO would probably my go-to MMO.

Its the only Star Trek game in town.

Its certainly not the WoW-like grind introduced in Season 7. ((Otherwise known as Season of The Grind.))

Although it is becoming alarmingly difficult to even call it a Star Trek game. Star Trek offered hope and inspiration. This game is the only one I log into already depressed knowing I'll just be grinding with no fun involved.

    Bleh...

I like doffing, flying around and sending my crew off on various missions. I'd love to see the doff system expanded with more content.

I also like making new characters and exploring the game through different perspectives. My current newbie character is a vulcan female I've modeled after the front page graphic. I named her T'art (because, as someone described her, she's a "tarted up vulcan strumpet").

With this current character, I'm leveling 0-50 using an original tier 1 constitution cruiser. When I start my next character I'm thinking of seeing if I can go 0-50 in a fighter.

Leveling content is far more enjoyable. You get to run around and do episodes, patrols, kerrat, and so on. And it all has a real purpose, it helps you level and advance.

On the flip side, once you hit 50 all that content is pretty worthless as it has no real rewards, doesn't advance you, and is far too easy to provide any sort of challenge. Unfortunately, the actual end-game content sucks. It sucks a lot. It sucks diseased camel wang. It's tiresome, repetitive, and grindtastic. You grind the same handful of missions over and over, so you can grind rep, so you can grind those same missions to unlock and pay for special items, which help you grind better.

Cryptic has been showing a preference for mindless grind over content for awhile now. I'm hoping the new may update will change that pattern, but I really wouldn't hold my breath. They're talking about new reps and new "adventure zones" and that just translates into more grind.

My advice is to stop playing the way cryptic tries to lead you, into endless mind-numbing grinds. Play your own way, in your own style. Maybe you won't have some new version of some old item with 2% higher stats, which costs you three months of grinding oodles of marks and gazillion dil. And maybe that will be a blow to your epeen. But I'd rather have fun than endlessly grind away chasing some super-purple-ultra-rare carrot like a mindless sheep.

    Space combat, simply put.

I hear you about running around on New Romulus, so I didn't do it. I just ground out the space missions instead. Sure, it took a little longer to get my marks, but I didn't run content I didn't enjoy, and here I am at the end just like everybody else.

Running STF's wasn't a problem for me, because I enjoy blowing things up in space. It's why I'm here. It's not a grind if you are performing the activity you want to be performing, anyway.

Milked the rep system, my main ship is fully loaded. No upgrades available. I'm topped out. I still play because I like to blow things up.

I don't understand people that approach the game as tho the grind is the goal, and when the grind is over or not to their liking they say the game is not good. To me the play is the game, the grind is what they give us to keep power gamers busy while they write more code.

Edit: Oh, and I'm addicted to log parsing... Tho I'm trying to get help...
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!
