How do you get one of these? It's not on the exchange or the C-Store. Do I have to buy a copy of the STO collector's edition? Where is the cheapest place to do so?
The Red Matter capacitor is only available via the Collector's edition. I got mine at Gamestop for a couple bucks last year, but the stores no longer have them anymore (I was told by the mngr of the store i bought mine at that they subsequently destroyed the remaining copies per corporate). Best bet is probably Amazon.
Shouldn't we all be telling the OP that JJ Abrams inspired Star Trek items do not belong in this game? And that the OP should just forget about the Red Matter, since anything Abrams is worthy of contempt?
That's how these threads are supposed to go whenever anyone mentions stuff related to the 2009 Trek film.
Another fun thing about RMC is that you can claim it as many times as you want and literally put another one on each ship you own. The game will let you put two on the same ship, but.... that doesn't give you the ability to use it twice. They have a 100% shared cooldown.
Can you post your full build for your galor ship please, it interests me.
I have one too just wondering on your layout console wise.
Thanks in advance.

I bought mine from walmart online store, I found that it was the cheapest place to find it. it came in a rather large heavy box, it has the book, a badge a few guest passes, a disk and a code to enter after you sign onto your account... the red matter converter is available for ALL characters on your account for an unlimited number of times, every ship you own can have its own converter. Also has a costume unlock. I am fairly happy with it, also now that it is free to play perhaps an update to the bonus you get would make more copy's sell:D

If that's the same as the one I got it, the code also give you free Lib Borg Boffs.

My borg BOFF came as an amazon pre-order and is unlocked for all toons on your account. I bought a standard edition when I first signed up. I then bought an LTS in June 2010 and this past xmas I bought the collector's edition for the red matter capacitor and the uniform off Amazon for $12. They still have them on amazon.

Yeah, but the ones on Amazon are from third parties. They may contain absolutely no special goodies whatsoever. I know mine didn't. But for the price of $5 I got a nice badge and the red matter capacitor (plus the TNG/DS9 uniforms which I had already unlocked), so it was well worth it.
I think if you can find the Amazon version or the Target version, they might be well worth $20 or so, since they come with an account unlock of the borg BOFF and rifle respectively. However, they are hard to find. The versions sold by amazon vendors rarely are the Amazon version.
When my weapons go offline for vault ensnared, cant get weapons back online using it.
I just did some testing with a fleet mate after reading this, and the Red Matter Capacitor seems to behave... well, not as advertised.
My fleet mate was running a drain/Target Subsystems/Viral Matrix build, and I had him disabling me in various ways to test the RMC. It appears that it will restore any system, disabled in any way that one player can disable another, except Weapons. It never restored my Weapons subsystem, regardless of how it was disabled (VM, Target, or drain), but it reliably restored the other three subsystems no matter how they were disabled, and often restored two of them at once.
Very interesting, but the RMC is still a solid investment, with that information.

I read that the RMC, Enhanced Plasma Manifold and batteries all share a cooldown. Is this true?
Well, I know the first two do, I don't bother with the third often enough to notice. BUT, it's a PARTIAL cooldown. Using RMC only gives EPM a short cooldown, not the full cooldown.

I got mine on Amazon for $7 plus shipping and it did indeed have the lib borg officer for all my characters. Was totally worth it.
As mentioned in another thread though, it does lie about the "aluminum case" which is just cardboard with some kind of metallic paint. Other than that it's pretty cool.

Two things: first, it's not a console. Second, how is it bugged?

Red Matter Capacitor on ship
Red Matter Capacitor on stowiki

Doesnt repair any disabled subsystem.
Really, because it seems to do so most of the time when I use it.
For instance, if my engines are disabled, red matter capacitor will usually re-enable them.
