A few fleets have finished off their Embassy and are back to concentrate on the never ending resource grind for their Starbase. So any ideas or suggestions what the next holding will be?
The embassy is just boring.
I'd like an Asteroid Colony. Just a floating potato with a structure attached that we can build. Might be nice to walk out in my EV suit for some morning Dilithium Farming. Might as well make it a reality I say
Either that of a deep space colony on a remote planet with friendly wildlife like LV-426?
As a member of a tiny fleet with no desire to expand, I don't really care about any new "special projects" for Consulates or Starbases, and frankly I'm a little tired of all these giant "fleet/guild" resource sinks anyway.
What I would like to see is a system like that for my own Starship! A resource sink I can get something out of. I can't afford to build a consulate or large starbase but I should be able to "upgrade" my starship, fancy windows, a dance floor, elaborate decorations custom crew uniforms and my own personal yeoman to take advantage of
Think of the fun you could have in the 10 mins a month you spend inside your ship!
My preference is for a 2409 Nor and Dilithium Ore Refinement facility, with Reman, Ferengi, and Cardassians backing it.
It would allow some tinkering with dilithium. It would give us a glimpse back at Cardassians (Which Stahl has said we won't see much of for awhile.) It gives Remans something to do.
And here are thw two big things:
We could get custom promenades for shopping, that make fleets more distinct. And Tacoboy's efforts could be used to also justify cleaning up or redoing DS9's interior with features like a sickbay and a Promenade that goes beyond kiosks to have full shops.
I like stoleviathan99's idea of a Dilithium Ore Refinement facility. Might need to start saving up all this Bajoran Doffs and put them to work
Fleet holdings are a nice way to to work as a Fleet toward shinies, but I wish there was more to it than a UI Resource sink. There really need to be Activities to complete that are holding specific. Fleet Marks are getting a bad name.
I want more stuff on the actual starbase. Outside of buying shiny things, there isn't much point to it.
I'd like to see the Holdings sit below the Starbases in the Tree, whereby completing them unlocks special items for the Starbase. This could be appearance, location of starbase, special functional unlocks.
A planet for your base to orbit, with a colony that grows per tier. That's my guess.
The Dilithium mine would be actually useful so forget that. Plus you'd get weirdos crying I DON'T WANT 2 B IN A FLEET THEY HAVE UNFAIR ADVANTAGE now, as if being in a fleet means you are forced to contribute daily or something. It's not my fault if some of you join rubbish fleets all on your own, or just hate having friends, or whatever.

It's ok, it will be alright. We can not help these people :P
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
I've noticed a Frigate that patrols the outermost area of the Starbase and it's facilities, like a real picket ship would. However, when grinding up some marks, that picket Frigate is completely absent.
How about a way to make yourself a small NPC defense fleet that will actively help out during those missions.
Ship class and number would depend on the Tier of the Starbase and/or Shipyard.
Say, a T1 Starbase with a T1 Shipyard would get a lone Miranda.
A T3 Starbase with a T2 Shipyard would get a pair of Stargazers, or maybe a Stargazer/Akira combo, Stargazer/Saber, whatever.
Could even go further and make it where the Fleet Leader could pick which ships were a part of the "Home Fleet" as it were while everyone else is off, galavanting around the galaxy.

Gotta admit, I love that idea. It would be really nice to have a small mining outpost, being able to walk outside, maybe even being able to mine some dilithium like a daily. Come on, why should we haggle with that ferengi, when we have a whole fleet that can easily capture a 100 asteroid fields?
I hope it does not come up to a remote colony on forgotten planet, cause I can?t see that being visited more than the embassy. Well, maybe if there were some nice beaches and lovely sunsets..
The Home Fleet idea sounds pretty cool, but I could see that more like a special project of some sort than a holding..

pls, no more dill mining in person.. if, then it should be automated.
my captain has more important stuff to do - example - kill feds in the arena
I have no real preferences about what form it should take (maybe a deep space depot or something), but I'd like to see something that serves as a staging area for the fleet.
If there is any large scale content coming in the May update (fleet actions or similar), it would be a place for the fleet to martial their troops, for members to get their gear straightened out, to get mission information, and to turn in whatever marks or tokens the content offers for rewards. Make the fleets part of the process.
Honestly, a colony would make the most sense. I'm surprised it wasn't the first extra holding we got.
At the very least colony invasion would make more sense then, and maybe we could use ground Op Assets on it at that point.
And as many of the other ideas both Cryptic and players have put out (ground base, mine/refinery, trade outpost, surplus yard) make sense as part of the ongoing growth of a colony, the colony map could be used as a hub with various transport (doors, shuttles, groundcars, transporter pads) to other related holdings on the same planet, effectively allowing a number of holdings to interconnect at a single location and give the feeling of a much larger location.

Which would be awesome I admit.
Up in the sky would be your big ole Starbase and all it's facilities. Down below on the planet lies a colony that's been steadily growing and all across the world trading, a forward base, etc all lie as well.
That would actually feel substantial to me. To know that, while expensive, over time you are actually building up something is truly awesome to me.

Yeah. I know we already have links between the starbase and embassy, but IMO this would feel more integrated - most of the holdings are all together, built one on another.
It could also be a useful system for handling really small holdings. Somebody in another thread had asked how a mine would develop, basically, "How do you upgrade a cave?" With this, it'd be easier to justify just having a single-bar holding when they're a facility added to a larger holding more than a holding themselves.
There are a lot of ideas I'd like to see, I doubt we'd get anything of real substance.
The ground colony with further expansion is a great idea, but I doubt they'd do it. This is what the starbase should have been like with the shipyard, conduit and everything as further buildings to upgrade.
Since the mention of star bases I wanted a hideout more or less, something out in enemy or disputed territory, hidden, small, dirty. Maybe a place where things not so legal happen. Something that starts tiny, defenseless, but grows over time to a full blown outpost with static defenses to secure its more vulnerable position. Its easy enough to incorporate dilithium mining into this if wanted.
I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of manufacturing or resource facility, or even a whole holding devoted to business/trading which gave fleet members all a regular share of "profits." The amount given out and how much to each player is a tough call there, you'd probably have to base it on the amount donated on the leader board (which can be abused too)
Development of trading rewards EC, manufacturing items of increasing quality and resources maybe rewards commodities or something, dilithium would be an interesting reward.. quite possible.
I'd like to see the location of the colony be placed on the other side of the DS9 Wormhole. This could lead into an expansion of the exploration system. For players without a Fleet, there could be a common Starfleet/KDF outpost for the exploration part.
