I was reading on STO wiki under furture content that it is planned for New Orleans, Niagra, and Freedom classes would be added in late 2013 into Februrary 2014. I would love to see the New Orleans class added. I do have some issues with Niagra and Freedom, however.
If the Niagra is added, there sould be an option to omit the third nacelle that projects out of the bottom of the ship, much like on the Deep Space Science Vessel has the option to omit the lower pod.
I object to adding the Freedom unless some of the DS9 Kitbashes are added first. Among them, the Yeager-Intrepid, the U.S.S. Curry/Rage Queen, and the U.S.S. Bradford. In addition, the Springfield class from BoBW Pt. 2 should be added before the Freedom. These three should be easy to add, and do a much better job of following typical ship layout than the Freedom class.
The Yeager-Intrepid can be an alternative tier-4 escort since I would rather fly that ship than the Defiant at T4.
The Curry/Rage Queen can be an engineering focused carrier if they use ONLY excelsior parts.
The Bradford can be an alternate tier 2 crusier/transport with some features similar to the Tufflli such as Trader and Quartermaster NPCs on the ship.
The Springfield can either be a science vessel or a cruiser.
My objection to the Freedom stems from my ealier point about typical Federation ship layout, and that if Freedom is added, then why not add the Challenger from BoBW, U.S.S. Elkins Intrepid variant, U.S.S. Hutzel Excelsior variant, and U.S.S. Jupp consitution/miranda variant also added? Why yes to Freedom, but not these? Why is that one acceptable, but not any of these or the ones I want to see? What is the justification for inclusion of one, but the exclusion of the others?
I hope they do since they did the Cheyenne class. The New Orleans would make a excellent escort/frigate type. Since that is what it was made for. The Nigeria could be another type of escort, or cruiser type. Even an science vessel.
I would love to see the Nigeria and New Orleans make it to the game. I would buy them.

I always thought that it's a real shame that the only onscreen occasion to see Starfleet's ships of the early TNG fleet are the smoldering wrecks of Wolf 359.
I always I hoped that we'd see more of these fine vessels in the HD remastering of The Next Generation but it appears that these hopes were indeed in vain.
Not to mention that these kitbashes were simply awesome and had a whole other level of quality and flair to them than the mindless zombie ships of the DS9 Frankenstein Fleet
(I always supected the ship designers and modelers of having their reasons for naming these
rushed and sloppy kitbashes that way. In his blog Doug Drexler even spoke of
"kitbash parties" . . . *shudders*)
As for the Wolf 359 ships, I always imagined that the New Orleans, with it's three external torpedo launchers (who are actually text markers clued to the filming model ) would go very well with a rapid fire torpedo launcher perhabs as a ship specific weapon like Galaxy-X's Spinal Phaser Gun
or as shipside decrease of torpedo reloading times which would also allow us to use all sorts of torpedo weapon types effectively.
C'mon Cryptic, the Typhoon Battleship is the most aggressive and badass looking ship in the entire Starfleet. How could it not be playable!?
And don't forget about the Jupiter and the Balaur and every other awesome NPC ship that absolutely deserves to be playable!
C'mon Cryptic, we know you can do it!
Most likely the New Orleans and Norway will come first (Yes, I know the Norway isn't from Wolf 359). Not sure if the 3 nacelled Niagara Class as is will be added or become re-imagined like the Kumari.
The Yeager is from the DS9 Dominion War episodes... a Maquis Raider bottom with an Intrepid Class top.
From what Geko said in the last interview I heard it is unlikely. The only one I'd really want is the New Orleans myself, but...the magic 8-ball says outlook not so good.
The Odyssey isn't made of recycled parts. It was actually designed with its own original style and looks good all in one piece. The New Orleans has none of that.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though. JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Hey, maybe the fact that some people have different opinionz on the internetz about which ships look nice is exactly a reason we need the options to begin with?
Just a thought.

You like a ship that is part Intrepid, part Runabout, part F-14 Tomcat, and part Constitution-refit?
I hate to agree with you, but yes that "thing" is truely the most ugly ship in Starfleet, lol.
But no fear, if Crypptic (Mr.Rivera) decides to release it, it surely is going to be a much more fun/useful ship to fly than the Galaxy class.

Yes!
It looks better than the Yeger, and it's more modern (except the nacelles) than the other sill kitbashes.

Yes, I have read the ship articles on Bernard Schneider's site Ex Astris Scientia, specifically the ones on the DS9 Kitbashes. Kudos to you for also mentioning that we should have the actual Norway and not just the pathetic Oslo.
I think you hit the nail on the head when you said "Reimagined". The Yeager and, ues, the Elkins couold be reimageined such that the STO rendered versions could have a very similar outline and shape, but its upclose details are completely different (see Oslo and Zepher).
Specifically, the Yeager sedondary hull could retail the basic Radier shape, but the "nose" piece could be shared off and replaced with a deflector dish, the wing struts could be upswung instead of down, and finally, window can be added to the secondary hull.
I have no idea how to re-engineer and reimagine the Elkins, but I challenge the player who does like it to work out how to make it into a ship that had slightly better lines and curves. I would suggest starting by looking as the above mentioned Ex Astris Scientia.
Al Rivera mentioned specifically the Norway and New Orleans as the last two possible canon ships to be added from a Priority One interview recently. Though the Vulcan heavy cruisers are something we want to see (Fed carrier maybe).
As for the Niagara, the Challenger, and the Springfield Class starships... not sure.
To be honest, from a canon point of view, I have a difficult time accepting that Starfleet would have left the frankenstein fleet that way.
New primary hulls bolted to older secondary hulls? Since they were only put together this way as a wartime "need ships and need them fast" measure I'd rather beleive that, subsequent to to the Dominion war, Starfleet had the sense to detach the Intrepid class 'saucer' from the secondary hull it was bolted to, and attach it a proper Intrepid class hull.
However you view it, they were the response to an urgent need for ships during wartime. If you follow soft canon, we know that PROPER ships were designed subsequent to the Dominion war - the Luna class & Vesta class being two examples.
I just don't see them continuing to use ships that were thrown together from whatever was sitting around in either the junkyard or the UPFY and were intended to be absolutely nothing more than flying phaser-banks.

It's the same reason that people love the Excelsior design. Even the guys who designed it don't like it. Go figure.

The one I want in addition is the original Stargazer, Constellation class.
