Real Update on Galaxy X Saucer Sep delays?

It's been about a year since we first heard of the saucer separation option coming to the Galaxy Dreadnought and we still have no eta on it.

Given that this will likely boost sales of two different ships (the Retrofit for the Sep console and the Dread itself) it seems worth getting done and launching.

We've been told that the functionality of it was done long ago but that they were fine tuning the animations, which is fine. However, limited resources acknowledged how could this take a year? I love my Gal-X and bought the Refit Galaxy just for the Venture skin which looks great on it. However, as excited as I was for the new option for this somewhat faded ship class, the interminable delay has reduced my enjoyment of the game overall.

The entire Galaxy class family needs love and there is no way that Cryptic isn't aware of this, regardless of team members' personal opinions on the matter. I think that this already-largely-completed addition is the place to start.

I wanted the Gal X from when it was first announced and have enjoyed it despite some shortcomings. I think it's been very effective with my build for my gameplay purposes and fun. Waiting a year for a feature that was not only hinted but actually screenshotted as being tested is pretty tough for even a diehard like myself.

Please bring us this largely-completed addition as soon as possible. I can't justify spending any more money on new shinies until I see a real, concrete response to this. I know the business of producing assets etc. is more complex than I am privy to but it shouldn't be this major a production.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

I'm quite certain they'll never release saucer sep with the Galaxy-X because it'd make the Galaxy-R even more worthless and they know it.

They tweeted a pic of this working last Feb. 9th. As recently as November we were told it was still slated "before Season 8" which is now coming up. So I see no reason to think it is not happening, I just am hoping for a concrete answer as I think it's about time for one.

The sad thing is, they don't care about the Galaxy -r-, they completely ignore anything related to it.

The only thing i would want concerning the Galaxy -X isn't saucer seperation, but to remove that stupid looking thrid nacelle+pylon and being able to use Galaxy -R necks.
That way, we could finally have a Galaxy Battleship, very easy and extremely little work for the devs.
But i am sure Mr. Rivera would veto that, as always when it comes to improving ANYTHING related to the Galaxy class. :D:D:D

How many times do we have to go over this? If it didn't have the third nacelle then it wouldn't be a Galaxy-X. Also the neck can't be changed because of the spinal phaser lance.

There is more that differs the Galaxy -X and the Galaxy -R, i you didn't know.

The Phaser spinal lance is part of the saucer, not the neck (at least on the studio model).

I don't get what the problem is, there are so many "mirror universe" ship in STO, no one cares about. no ones cares about the Assault cruiser looking like a Star Cruiser and vice versa, but every time someone wants the Galaxy -X BOFF & Console layout with the looks of a Galaxy the same people cry thats not possible because.... well the Galaxy -X is the Galaxy -X is the Galaxy -X....

In regards to the OP, someone tweeted Al Rivera two days ago about the Galaxy-X saucer sep (which Rivera tweeted about a year ago) asking if this was still coming as well as a Fleet version. Rivera simply tweeted back "Yes".

I dunno what that means in terms of ETA but it's somewhere there.

Hah! "Yes" is a great answer. Though I've never actually doubted it was still coming and am more concerned with the 13 month delay so far. :D

Thanks, altechachan, for an incremental update.

Heh, I finally moved on. They gave me a sci carrier fedside before they gave me saucer sep. Have at it.

Tho I loved that ship... I might take her out for a spin...

You know, it's been so long I don't even know what I'd use Saucer Sep for other than probably increased turn rate. I'm pretty happy with the build I'd been using on my Gal-X, I almost exclusively PVE (plus some Ker'rat) and I've never had a problem in STFs or anywhere else.

Still, more fun out of my favorite ship is always a good thing.
