Killing the Unimatrix Vessels in one hit

Yesterday, I was playing a borg invasion encounter. After my team quickly dispatched the 4 borg fleets, the Unimatrix ship warped in as usual. When I got close enough to the ship it fired its Plasma Energy Bolt. I noticed it following me and took evasive action in my fed escort (which is pretty fast) and was able to get close to the ship and crossed over the top. I thought I outran the torpedo when the Unimatrix ship went from 88% to dead instantly which made me wonder if I had caused the Plasma Energy Bolt to actually hit the borg ship causing it to die instantly instead of me. Has anyone had a similar experience or is it just an enormous lag spike?

    The plasma energy bolt can actually damage anyone and anything, including the unimatrix that spawned it, and it will also damage anything inside it's splash zone. So it is possible that the energy bolt hit the unimatrix and crit'd on it. Besides, the borg in borg invasion are pretty weak.

    Unfortunately a one-hit by a player sacrificing himself wont work in hive onslaught anymore.
    Fortunately, a fighter can still get close enough and let the unimatrix nuke itself to oblivion.
