Not a crazy question. The core of it is this: despite much of the criticism I point Cryptic's way, I want STO to do well. That means bringing in money, which means people wanting to spend money on the game.
As a business, if your customers don't trust you they're much less likely to spend money on you. This is true of any industry, but it's especially crucial in a long-term service industry (which MMOs are a part of).
Let's look at it another way. You're renting a house or apartment. The washer in the house has some issues (let's say it leaks a lot), and the landlord comes in, tells you he'll fix it it and replaces the washer with a new one. Only this washer has a penchant for catching on fire. You call the land lord, he comes out and tells you he'll fix it again, then replaces the washer a second time. But this time, the new washer leaks again.
Will you believe the landlord a third time when he tells you he'll fix it, or will you look for another place to rent?
I'd take the third option and call a repair guy, if I really liked the apartment I live in

Given Cryptics track record with the "truth", you'll understand if we take your words with a huge pinch of salt.
Your "proof" for said sales being the # of ships ingame, is rather meaningless. I'm sure the same amount of sales was made on the Vesta or Odyssey ships. What matters most, is how many still fly one of those ships? I bet you, that most of the sold Odyssey ships, are now parked in a drydock somewhere.
The "new shiny" will always sell well. Most fly the new ships for the coolness factor. Undoubtedly, quite a few end up regretting their purchase. And thankfully for Cryptic/PWE, there are no refunds.
That's a bit harsh considering our friendly neighborhood Breakfast Cereal is just the local Vocabulator and Magistrate.

So as an 'Empire Veteran' you like randomly beaming into the Shipyard when you were headed for First City?
You like not being able to edit your Marauder Boff that likely took several months of Doffing to claim?
You think it's reasonable that 16% of the player-base doesn't have 16% of the development team dedicated to fixing KDF bugs and implementing new content?
You accept that the horribly gimped Bortasqu' not selling is an adequate excuse for there being no KDF equivalent to the Kumari?
You think it's great that the KDF can unlock the Embassy tailor and find there's no new clothes to buy in there?
Or that it's been a while since the rep system went live and broke helmets for KHG armor (that you now have to buy with Dilithium) and there's still no fix whilst the Kumari gets a patch the next day?

Not calling you a liar Brandon, but I've only just now spotted my third Andorian ship.
Have yet to see any in the 30 STFs I've run between the release and today.
Tons of Ambassadors, dozens of Breens, handfuls of Chimera and Steamrunners... but only three Andorian ships.
So who in the chain of command can we ask for real numbers? I would very much like to see them for myself, as would many of us here? Perhaps if we asked the right people, a "STO Annual Report" or something could be issues with cold hard numbers!

This is directed at no one in particular. It's just a pattern I see in every MMO forum. So, in the end, I say just live and let live here. Let people voice their complaints. Everyone has their reasons for them.
Now, on topic: What I do hope for (especially since it's been mentioned in another thread) is after the PWE zen sale, Cryptic will throw in a STO specific ship sale. One of these is truly long overdue, IMO.

It is amazing that this sale happens right after the Andorian Escort comes out... such wonderful timing. I think it has to be because the Andorian Escort is not doing as well as Cryptic wanted and the "pot" is starting to run dry for them because of the Fleet Mark Controversy.

I for example decided on leveling my Andorian because I loved the Charal and want that char. to be my first to walk in the Andorian ship. I'm 2/3 down the way, but once I hit VA I'll be getting the 3-pack, that has already been decided. I know there are quite a few fanatics like me that think that way.
