Hey guys. First off I want to say thank you to everyone that post in the PvP forums. Over the past 2 years reading on here has made me a good player and top killer in my fleet. Especially to DDIS for the Aux2Batt builds.

Here is my dilemma and I wanted the opinions of the group. Trying to decided If I should change it up a tad with the next shipyard we are about to unlock.

Fleet Defiant vs Fleet MVAM, thoughts on which any of you prefer or would go with?

go for the fleet defiant, it is comparable to the jhas, it has -3turn rate and a little bit less hull, but it has +1 science console slot, and -1 engineering console slot, if you use 3 plating consoles you will get almost the same resistance that if you were using 4, so it has a better console layout, i would go for the fleet defiant

    tt1 bo2 crf2 apo3
    tt1 crf1 apo1
    bo1

    epts1 rsp1 / epts1 epts2 / or epts1 auxtosif1

    he1 tss2 / or ph1 he2

    that should be my layout

    Hi akiranc

If you claim you are the 'top killer' in your fleet, you give the impression that you are good at PvP, and that in the last 2yrs of experience and studying the PvP sub forum you should be better than alot of players here in the STO community. I'm surprised that you'd ask for which ship to pick between the two. The obvious choice has already been suggested by 'borgresearcher'.

The defiant is deadly ship just like the JHAS. It is a great dogfighter, and is by far a cheaper choice if comparing it to a JHAS.

I use the Fleet Defiant, and my fleet mate uses both.

    He like the MVAE.

The mvam is superior due to the Boff seating

The defiant is ok but in high end pvp the only thing you'll find it doing is evasive manoeuvres

It is in no way comparable to the JHAS and to do so is laughable
----=====This is my opinion you don't have to listen and no one else has to read them these "OPINIONS" are based on my exploits and my learning other people will have their opinions and that's fine just don't knock my way of doing things thanks=====----

I dont really PvP much outside of fleet, so I can't really compare myself to the community of STO.

Just trying to get opinions before I waste money on a ship that appears to be tough, without taking too much away from the damage. I got the mobius and like the abuse it can take, but just not sold on its damage. So far seems I'm just as good sticking with old faithful from the comments.

Thx for the opinions so far on what y'all would prefer.:)

Having flown both, in hindsight I would say neither. If you really want a fleet escort, try out the Fleet Patrol escort. Tankier and better Boff seating than the defiant, and tankier than the advanced.

Owning every other escort in game save JHAS and kumari, I can say that the Fleet Patrol is my favorite non-lockbox ship.

edit: if you aren't sold on the M?bius damage, try tweaking your set up a bit, it can excel as much as any other 4 console fed escort, and significantly higher with all the temporal goodies loaded up. If you want any pointers or help, hit me up in game @jorricane.

My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.

Mobius is another good ship that is well utilized in PvP. Although it can be out-turned by some, it's sci console layout in conjunction with its boff layout can afford it great resiliency, and I've also seen some utilized in powerful debuff/crowd control setups. It's forward firing arc is not to be underestimated, as with 4 tact consoles you can still lay down punishing DPS, as I have a friend who plays with PvP matches with me against other people, and he pilots a Mobius. I know for a fact he can tear people apart with ease in a dogfight, he's real good and has dusted me a few times before in duels between us both.

get the fleet saber over the fleet patrol, it trades some hull for 1 better turn basically. it comes with the best choice of ensign station too.

a separated MVAM, saber, defiant, and bug are the speedy turners, the best at fighting other escorts

the temporal destroyer, vet ships, patrol, steam runner, jem heavy, breen and new andorian ship are all 16 turn or below. wile are just as good at fighting slower targets, they are at a disadvantage dealing with escorts that can out maneuver them
