TO be clear, this is NOT about making my Odyssey class ship look exactly like the TOS Enterprise, but rather a larger ship with TOS styling. Smooth surface features and rounded nacelles with TOS style windows and a TOS style deflector.
I would pay for that!
And if we keep the dimensions and overall shape of the ship intact, I do not see this angering too many purists out there. Hopefully.
This might not be worth the effort to implement (I think so, but what do I know), and I suppose I will see if anyone likes the idea in the following comments, assuming that there will be any:).
While I like the idea I think that the ody scale alone would disqualify it from being used. Unless that is taken into account and the skin is a reduced in size version. However it is my understanding that in that time Starfleet had a limited amount of ships and styles basic Oberth, Cruiser and Miranda up to the Exceslior being launched. So not entirely sure that it could work

Your understanding is wrong. It was ciggerite nescles before TMP Connie, Reliant and Excelsior.
I want more TOS immersion too but they really should look like canon ships.
Mechanically, it would take a redesign (changing the vector frames) of the ships to start creating the TOS-era look. When you were done, it really would not look as pleasing as either the TOS-era or the streamlined 25th century looks.
You can put lipstick on a pig,... but it would still just look like lipstick on a pig.
I personally would like to see a series of "hardened" TOS model ships at Tier-4 level from the C-Store. They might be at least usable for PvE missions, especially if their turn-rates and thrusters were good enough.
