So, it's been a while since I played seriously and thought about changing my setup. Previously ran cruisers and the Atrox Carrier. Back in the day when 3-piece Borg + MACO Shields was the "best" setup one could run.
With the advent of new ships and new sets, however, I'm wondering if this is still the "best" setup or if there are new combinations that work better now, or if certain sets suit different ships, weapon flavors notwithstanding.

The Universal Assimilated Module is no longer part of the Borg Space Set. It has been moved over to the Omega Space Weapons set with its own item-group abilities.
Personally, I've had better luck with the full Borg Space set now that the Kinetic Cutting Beam combo's with the Borg set tractor beam. Defensively, the hull and shield auto-regen procs and Borg Shield's high shield recharge combo's well with EPtS1 + Tactical Teams.
This +1. Someone in another thread suggested Adapted MACO engine and deflector with MACO shield for my escort. But, it will be another week before I have the dil to try it.
I've tried full borg (both sets) and full MACO. borg set is definitely tankier in my escort. Right now I'm running 2-piece borg with MACO shield. I have the cutting beam, but I didn't care for the tractor beam.
Not to derail, but does the Adapted MACO have different visuals than MACO? I liked the visuals on the Reman set, but i got pretty banged up when I tried it in an ESTF.
