Operation Gamma is hard

I'm on normal difficulty, and I'm having a heck of a time trying to beat this mission. I did beat this mission while I was playing as federation, but now I'm playing as a KDF this time round, and of course its still really difficult to beat.

Yeah, I've done this one a couple of times. It does take a while, but once you get the hang of it, and stick with it, it's not too bad. When I get to the satelite part, I write things down, so I don't TRIBBLE up. Just sayin'

When you need to do the scanning part in the gamma quadrant ... its easiest to fly upwards, and over the swarmers to get out of targeting range.

I don't see what's hard about it. For the 1st part of the mission, have shield batts in stock and a Boff with a hull heal, concentrate on the work bees, get rid of them first before engaging the fighters. For the 2nd part there are a number of sites that post walkthroughs that you can print out to keep handy for things like what to scan, etc. You can easily avoid the swarmers to get from one salvage location to another and when you finally have to deal with the swarmers stay at the limit of fire and only pull one group at a time.
If something is not broken, don't fix it, if it is broken, don't leave it broken.
    Oh Hell NO to ARC

If you have the point defense console, you can get rid of all the swarmers in one shot.

Yes, it's kinda like an "I Win" button vs Swarmers. Other fun tricks are photonic shockwave torpedos, and Harghs.
