Hey this question has probably already been asked and so if it has would someone please direct me because I haven't found it.

Is there a reason we have to wait to fire individual torpedo banks. For example if all the torpedo banks were loaded why can't I press 4,5,6 and have them all fire at once instead of waiting a sec til they cool down. Is it so the tactical special where it fires 2 torpedoes at once is separated?

I gather there is a decent reason I'm just curious as to what it is.

Certain abilities, including some weapons like torpedoes, have a shared cooldown in order to keep the game balanced. Torpedoes by nature do big spike damage, and being able to belt out a bunch at once without using a skill like Torpedo High Yield would be too much.

One of the tricks people use to make all torpedo/mine setups is to equip multiple purple duty officers that have a chance to cut all torpedo cooldowns whenever you fire a torpedo. They'll use a fast firing torpedo like a Photon to get the most chance to cut the cooldown on slower high damage torpedoes like Tricobalts. That's advanced tactics though. For now, just know that you need to time your torpedo usage well, and that they will share a cooldown.
