LRSV R (Intrepid), worth it?

I was thinking about buying the LRSV for my science capt, but I do have a problem. Namely, I run a science/tac build, I like to use science abilities to control and do damage. The LRSV only has two tac consoles. I like the science boffs, they give me room to add heals with my abilities, but the DPS potential seems low. Compared to my current Wells it looks like it would come up short.

Tl;dr I like the look and feel of the LRSV but not sure its a good fit, thoughts?

Probably not a good fit, unless you're looking at the fleet version, which adds a third tactical console, along with extra hull and shields. The Wells should suit your intended purposes nicely.

On top of that, Lockbox/Fleet ships like the Wells have an extra console and a slight boost to Shields/Hull over their Z-store counterparts.

Yea, thats pretty much what I was thinking. I love the Wells and all but ive taken it about as far as I can go, just looking for a change to mix things up.

Unfortunately my fleet only has about 120k military xp otherwise I would be all over the Fleet Intrepid.

The wells is much better than the LRSV-R, while my LRSV-R could withstand anything that was thrown at her, doing damage was much harder and I don't just mean because of the lack of console slots. Science ships either have to run projectile weapons or split power between weapons, shields and auxillary systems. Ontop of that you get fairly pants science skills for PvE which won't make up for a lack of weapon power, consoles or tactical boff slots. In PvP the skills are a bit more effective but I can't honestly say I can think of a reason to use it over the wells.

Which is a shame as I love the intrepid look and style.

If you like to control and do damage may I recommend either the mobius or fleet advanced escort as both can have a Lt.Commander science for gravity well 1 or repulsors 2 and can use cannons with high level tactical stations.

If science is more your thing then the vesta with it's aux DHC means you can keep aux power at 100 and still do massive damage (compared to science ships anyway) even with only a lt tactical station. The vesta is a lot more expensive for the 3 pack so if you're just getting 1 choose carefully.

It is through repetition that we learn our weakness.
A master with a stone is better than a novice with a sword.

Has damage got out of control?
This is the last thing I will post.

Exactly this! There is no reason for the LRSV-R with the arrival of the Wells some time ago. On every part the Wells outclasses the LRSV-R. Pity :(

Or the new mirror ship which has the same layout as the advanced escort but the looks of the patrol escort.

I bought the pack 2 weeks ago and loved the Vesta ever since. I play it with my tac toon (should I run for the hills now? :p) and it can kill cubes and other stuff real fast with that Quantum Field Focus Phaser, APA3, GW3, CSV2, APO1 and aux at max.
And it somewhat has the lines of the Intrepid.

Vesta would be the way to go over a LRSV-R. Yes, it cost more (get the pack, its worth it, the 3pc is amazing you want it.)

Tho to be honest, I prefer my Atrox to both of them... That second hangar bay... don't underestimate it... I out DPS my Vesta easy with the second rack of elite scorps.

Edit: I'm a Sci so no nasty stacking of tac captan abilities with the phaser for me... that may well put a Vesta well over the top, I'm really close now as it is, tac skills could seal the deal. My tac is a KDF tho, so I can't test it.
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!
