When i buy a ship from the c-store, i usually only use it for like 2 weeks then switch back to other ships i have. Then maybe a month or 2 later i use that ship again just to look cooler and check out the new console or so again. Then the cycle repeats its self with a new ship or one I already own. I just get bored with new ships fast.
Just wondering how long you guys use your new ships before switching back to another ship.
Note: I am NOT saying that the c-store ships are bad ships.
I have bought only two ships, the Multi-Vector Advanced Escort which is my main ship so i would consider it money well spent. The other is the Caitian Carrier which i only bought because it was so pretty, i rarely use it because im an escort junkie and to me its just painful having a ship that TRIBBLE#! slow!
I bought an Excelsior that didn't get much mileage, but that was poor timing since the MVAE was announced a few weeks after I got it. I used the MVAE until the Armitage came out, and have been using that ever since. We'll know tomorrow if I stick with it or not.
Then again, I've only bought ships that I know I'll keep using. There's been quite a few ships I've wanted but not purchased because I don't think I'd stick with them long enough to justify it to myself.
I got my Defiant-R with a Vice Admiral token before the game went F2P... the only ship I bought after that was the Fleet Defiant-R, using a combination of EC and Dilithium to obtain the FSMs.
I have more than enough fun flying my Defiant. I'd like to buy at least one of those Andorian escorts (they look very impressive), but I have a really hard time justifying that purchase just to do the exact same endgame content I've been doing for a couple years now.
If they add more space STFs in the May update (and not just more patrols like the Tau Dewa patrol), then maybe I'll buy a new ship.
Bought the MVAE shortly after it came out for my main. Haven't stopped using it since. Only thing I'll even consider replacing it with is the Fleet Adv. Escort, as soon as my fleet hits T4 shipyard. Already got the Module and credits saved up.
I've used the intrepid retrofit fairly consistently since hitting VA in Jan 2012, pretty much only dabbling with other ships (lockbox commons and C-Store) for brief periods.
I bought the NX, which I only use on new characters for about an hour, maybe two.
I bought the Advanced Science Vessel Retrofit (Nebula) which I used for a while, but got dissatisfied with it's DPS, so I shelved it.
I recently bought the Vesta 3-pack and I don't see myself using anything else, unless they raise the level cap or something. Watch them release 11 and 12 console ships and all the ones we have become obsolete. I bet they will do it!
Oh I also bought the defiant refit just for the quad cannons, and then never used it at all.
Depends how much fun I have in it. I'm still using my Chimera, although I'm considering switching back to my Armitage for the missile defense. I used my Excelsior Refit for a LONG time.
I won't switch back to the Excelsior until I have enough Dil saved up to fill out the beams, since I invested so heavily in cannons. I don't have to be 100% there; I'm not averse to buying some Dil when I need it, but I have to be closer than I am.

My first purchase was the Constitution, I had to have it since my first Star Trek experience was the TOS series. It's my museum ship, I dust it off once it a while and chase down some Klingons in the "easy" encounters.
Since I leveled up, I got the Excelsior after some research of knowing that it's a great cruiser for endgame. I really like the Transwarp! Although I do like to Ambassador too, I still come back to the Excelsior... with one exception...
Although this is not a purchased ship, the Advanced Escort (Prometheus) is my STF ship, cookie cutter setup with Antiproton cannons.
So basically I'm in my Excelsior, except for special missions, then it's the AE.
I'm looking at maybe getting the Regent later just because I like the Sovereign class ship looks.

I confess to having bought a lot of ships! Usually when there are sales on, I switch ships fairly often depending on my mood and what I want to do in game. Today I selected my Science Odyssey and put all my crew in Odyssey uniforms. Yesterday I was in my Galaxy-R in TNG uniforms. Hell I even take my Tier 2.5 Exeter out for a spin every so often and have great fun with it .

I bought the Nebula about 2 years ago. It's still my primary ship. I purchased the Bellerophon too, a good while back; which I still like, even though it's not an endgame ship (I know I could put the costume on the Intrepid-R, but I don't like the ultra specialized science layout of that ship).
I've used my Op Oddy since it came out for my engineer, but this is also because they haven't released a better eng ship on the c-store since. lol So had no other options for a change in ships.
I've been using all the ships I purchased with a few exceptions. I've historically just leveled up a captain to fly a specific ship. I usually don't swap ships around once I get everything settled in. Probably some leftover fears from when you actually had to spec into a specific weapon type.

In-defaintly , with perks every now and again
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.
I wanted to play a carrier since a very long time on my feds. Bought the armitage, and it was my first, and only ship I purchased. I still use it on 2characters.
I will buy the kumari, if it's a good ship, but not sure how much I'll play with it, since it will probably not be a carrier. Maybe I'll swap between the armitage and the kumari.
I've purchased many C-Store ships over the three years I've been playing STO. Especially in the beginning when I was more hopeful that my purchases were going towards playable content (Featured Episodes, etc.). Mostly I wait until the ships go on sale... Still, lots of money spent on this game... :P
TOS Constitution Class Cruiser (Full price: $10) - Purchased 06/15/10. Until the NX was released, this was my go-to new alt ship. I still love flying this from time-to-time on new and old toons. I also still use the level-matching blue-phasers when leveling new toons (even when they leave this ship tier behind). Next to my Excel, this is probably one of the best purchases I've made.
Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit: Excelsior (Full price: $15) - I used this from 08/26/10 until 12/01/12, so just over 2 years. At which point I paid 5.75M EC for a Fleet Ship Module on the Exchange and upgraded to the Fleet version that I'm still using on my Main Character. Without a doubt, this is the most used vessel I've played in this game and by far the top value/use.
NX Class Starship Replica (Sale $15.19) - Purchased 11/17/10 in the Enterprise bundle, I use this ship all the time when starting alts. Excellent value when factored in with the uniforms in the bundle.
Delta Flyer (Full price: $5) - Purchased 02/20/11 and is still my default shuttle craft on all my Fed toons. I rarely fly small craft missions, but whenever I have to, it's in the DF.
Multi-Vector Advance Escort (Full price: $15) - Purchased 03/26/11 and used it on one of my primary alts up until she switch to the Steamrunner in Nov '12. That was a good run.
Exploration Cruiser Retrofit (Galaxy w/Saucer Separation) (Sale: $7.50) - Puchased 04/29/11 for half-off in order to have a separating Galaxy, but now that I think about it, I don't think I ever actually used it. Huh... I think it's cuz I could never get over the disappointing BOff layout and turnrate the Gal has.
Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit (Intrepid) (Sale $7.50) - Purchased 04/29/11 again, on that great 50% sale. Never got around to using it, though.
Tactical Escort Retrofit (Defiant) (Sale $7.50) - Purchased 04/29/11, but like it's other similarly-tiered cousin retrofits, I've never used it.
Advanced Research Vessel Retrofit: Nebula: Class (Sale: $6), bought it 04/29/11 on a 50% Sale to "show support to Cryptic". I have one of my low-rung alts in the ship, and I never play him or the ship. The ship has maybe a couple hours of play time on it, at most.
Vulcan D'Kyr (Sale: $7.50) - Another 04/29/11 half-off ship, this one inspired the creation of my "Vulcan Crew Captain" - Nearly all of this alt's crew (BOs/DOffs) are Vulcan. As a 2nd tier alt, I play him regularly and do enjoy flying this ship when I do.
Jem'Hadar Attack Ship ($10) - On 12/08/11 I got 10 free gift bags from Dilithium Tax Gift Receipts, and purchased $10 worth off the C-Store. On the 13th opened box I got the JAS. Never flew it, or even opened the crate it came in. Instead, I happily sold it on the exchange for a metric buttload of EC.
Cruiser Refit: Exeter Class (Sale: $4) - Beautiful ship. Really love the look (as it's much like a neo-TOS Enterprise. Purchased 12/30/11, I've used it many times while leveling alts.
Escort Refit: Gladius Class (Sale: $4) - Purchased 12/30/11 during the "Last Chance (before F2P price changes)" sale with intentions to try the special console. I don't think I ever did. I also don't recall ever having flown the ship.
Exploration Cruiser Refit: Venture Class (Sale: $8) - Another 12/30/11 Last Chance ship, but I have used the AMS Console on various builds/ships. No offense to the designer, but I'm not fond of the look and thus have never/won't ever flown/fly this.
Light Science Vessel: Oberth Class (Sale: $2.40) - Purchased for the console, which I have used a couple of times on various builds/ships, but have never used the ship. Purchased 12/30/11.
Heavy Escort Refit: Thunderchild Class (Sale: $8) - Purchased 12/30/11 for the Point Defense Console, which I use all the time in my Main's Excel and other alt ships/builds. I've never flown the Thunderchild itself, though.
Tactical Escort Refit: Sao Paulo Class (Sale: $8) - Purchased 12/30/11. I've never flown the ship, but I've used the Quad-Cannons on various ships/builds.
Steamrunner (Sale: $9.99) - Purchased in the Steam Starter Pack bundle on 11/13/12, I have one alt flying this ship at this time.
Kar'Fi Battle Carrier (Sale: $7.50) - Purchased 04/29/11 and is still being used by one of my alt KDF toons.
Guramba Siege Destroyer (Sale: $12.50) - Purchased 04/29/11 and is still being used by one of my main KDF alts. It's one of my favorite KDF ships to fly (even though it's too darn fragile).
Marauder Patrol Cruiser (Sale: $7.50) - I think this was purchased as one of those "support Cryptic" moves on 04/29/11. I can't remember ever actually using this ship or it's hanger bay item.
Varanus Fleet Support Vessel (Sale: $7.50) - One of my low-rung KDF alts flys this, so it rarely gets seen/used.
Qorgh Refit ($0) - This was a C-Store ship given away for free on 12/01/11 when S5 pre-launched. I've never flown it, but I have used the Bio-Neural Warhead a couple times.
K't'inga Battle Cruiser Refit (Sale: $8) - Purchased 12/30/11, I like the looks of the ship and use it while leveling alts.
Norgh Refit: Ning'tao Class (Sale: $8) - Purchased 12/30/11 for the Quad Cannons which I used often on various ships/builds.
Vandal Destroyer (Sale: $8) - Purchased 12/30/11, and though I've never used the ship, I think I use the Plasmonic Leech on every KDF ship I fly.
Vor'cha Battle Cruiser Refit: Vor'Kang Class (Sale: $8) - Purchased 12/30/11, I love the skin and have used it quite a bit on my Vor'cha. I've also used the Isometric Charge console on some builds/ships.
Corsair Flight-Deck Cruiser ($0) - Purchased 01/22/12 entirely with Dilithium converted to CP (at the time). I got it for the Tachyon Drones, for a specific carrier build I wanted to try at the time, but never got around to making.
Decoit Flight-Deck Cruiser (Full price: $10) - Purchased 03/06/12... I've never used it, and can't even remember why I bought it. Possibly just to "try out" my stipend... ??? I dunno...
...Wow. $217.58 spent on ships for this game... And that doesn't even include the price I've paid on skins and bridge packs (of which I have them all). Don't get me wrong, I'm not sad, bitter, or otherwise upset about the money I sink into this game. It's a generally money well spent on a hobby/source of entertainment over the course of years... So it's all good.
That being said, you'll notice that since STO went F2P, my ship purchases have dropped significantly. Every time I consider buying one, I can't think of what I'd do with it and I change my mind. I do have some stipend saved-up and the new Andorian ships look cool... I've just rolled another alt (Andorian), and if the builds prove worthy, I'll likely buy (one or three is as yet undecided as well).
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.
With the exception of the Chimera, I got most of the alien ships in the game(mainly the lockbox ones), especially all the ships used in the Dominion War.
I'm a collector of beautiful things I use them all depending on my mood, and what style of play i choose to want to play as when I log on at that instant. My most heavily used ship is my tiny Jemmy Attack Ship. It's a great little bugger in PvE and PvP..... Hehe Just realized I made a pun :P
I bought a Varanus, and am still using it. This is because Science, never enough Science. Also the repair platform is kind of neat. Saving up for the fleet version... if that could be qualified as a new ship.
Well, as an amateur ship collector both in the game and in real life (you should see how many Enterprise-D's I have), it'll be a long list...
First buy was an NX-class. Only now in endgame do I regret that choice.
Second buy was the Galaxy Refit. Although the ship itself sucks, the costume is still worth the ZEN. The console is also good at pissing off the PVPers - I mean, as a fireworks show!
Third buy was the Defiant Refit, since I couldn't stand the Galaxy-refit at the time I bought it. The quad cannons are nice, even in PVE endgame (sucks in PVP). If I ever decided to get the Defiant Retrofit, I'd use the Sao Paulo costume, or at least parts of it.
Fourth buy was the Galaxy Dreadnought, which still serves me today as an outdated but durable cruiser, which I use even in PVP to this day.
Fifth buy was the MVAM Prometheus, which is a great ship, and which I happily used for many months.
Sixth ship was the Galaxy Retrofit. To be honest, this ship is the most disappointing due to the fact that Cryptic's sense of balance favours the older Excelsior over the newer Galaxy class.
Seventh ship was the Vesta (actually, the 3pk bundle). This is quite possibly the best purchase I have made in this game. The ship is phenomenal, and fulfills whatever role I need it to.
Eighth ship was the Steamrunner from the Steam bundle - got it on sale, it's better than the Defiant Retrofit, and Cryptic recently fixed the impulse engines, so I'm happy.
Ninth ship was the TOS Connie, which I used for one day in the TOS Wars event, and never used again.
I didn't count shuttles in this list - I bought the Delta flyer pretty early on, and later got the Type 10 from the DS9 Bundle. My favourite, however, is the Tholian Widow Fighter.

I am currently stuck on my science Vesta as the boff bug wont let me switch out to anythimg else, i usually swap out every so often during the week. I don't play with the lock boxes

Not many days, 1 week~, I always go back to my fleet defiant. However my Jem'Hadar HEC seems to be... holding for now... untill the Andorian pack arrives anyway.
I think I used my Excelsior Refit for over a year. Only the Ambassador finally got me out of it for any length of time, and that could roll back at any moment.
I've been using my Armitage since about 0.000001 seconds since it came out.
I love me some T5 Akira. I swap out of it for PvP, but short of that, it's my ship and will only be replaced once our T5 shipyard is done and I can get the Fleet HEC (though I'm having eyegasms over the Andorian ships.........).

500 years in the future and we still look like schmucks when getting our ID photos taken...
Having so many toons is both a blessing and a curse.
This time around its a blessing, since I can spec per character, per ship - So I have Captain ready spec out ships.
I hop on the toon I want with the desired ship and play. To me its the flavor of the month.
One month I want to be all cruiser mode so I switch to different toons with their different Cruisers.
Another Month I want to be gun ho Escort Cpt. To be honest I love my escorts and each are played differently - so in that month I choose between the escort Cpts
Then another month its all sci - Mainly Carrier users and sci vessels.
Though I do hate to use the Atrox, its the worst carrier in this game no matter how you spec it and what console you use. The thing looks like a flying glimmering Blue Faucet.
I've bought the Operations Oddysee when it was released (nearly one year ago). It's still my main ship. So I use it a long time now.
The shuttle I've purchased (Yellowstone) I use for exploration cluster missions and the vault event.
I've also bought the classic TOS Enterprise which I used mainly for RP reasons. As well as the NX Enterprise which I used until level 21. Both are dusty now ^^
A month or two if i think it's an improvement over what i currently own, according to an ideal ship reference. The vesta is very close to this ideal sci ship by the way.
Consequently, I often switch between the mobius and the vesta on my main fed char. My main KDF char is still waiting for some improvement (a 5 tac console raptor with 17+ turnrate and a very aggressive BO layout with a lot of tac stations), but i like the Krenn temporal destroyer. It's a good ship. Other chars will stay with their lockbox/fleet ships for a very long time. My eng has been flying a galor for 7 months or so and it's not going to change.
I've never purchased a ship from the store directly, though I have spent a stupid amount of money on lock box ships (specifically the Galor and Jem Hadar Escort); I've also got the Chel Grett (so at least my 'Dominion' collection is complete).
All in all though, I don't use any of them that often. I can't get on with the Jem Hadar Escort, so don't use that much. The Galor would be better if the Compressor Beams were tougher; I don't seem to make much of a dent when using them. I probably use the Chel Grett more than I do anything else.
Short of that though, no zen store ships. I'm considering an Andorian Escort, but that's only cause I've got an Andorian Engineering Toon and I was going to get an Escort (Blockade/Patrol Escort) for him to use in STF's. If a Kumari Escort can do that job, then I'll be satisfied with such. I'll probably get a single fleet ship (likely the assault cruiser) once I've reached shipyard #5 too.

So... Two or three hours?
Missing the good ol' days of PvP: Legacy of Romulus to Season 9
My List of Useful Links, Recently Updated November 25 2017!
I am currently stuck on my science Vesta as the boff bug wont let me switch out to anythimg else, i usually swap out every so often during the week. I don't play with the lock boxes
VESTA MULTI-MISSION SURVEILLANCE EXPLORER - U.S.S. HOPE IN HELL NX-902013-A
I love me some T5 Akira.
So rest assure the Atrox is not flown too often.
The shuttle I've purchased (Yellowstone) I use for exploration cluster missions and the vault event.
I've also bought the classic TOS Enterprise which I used mainly for RP reasons. As well as the NX Enterprise which I used until level 21. Both are dusty now ^^
Consequently, I often switch between the mobius and the vesta on my main fed char.
God, lvl 60 CW. 17k.
