Arguments have been for the Connie (which I agree with) as much as they have been made against it (which I find is lacking substance...). If they could re-fit the Enteprise D as a dreadnought (Final Episodes of TNG) certainly it could be plausible to gut and redo a Connie.
The fact is, the game is far from Canon where ships are concerned. Unlike previous Star Trek games, Cryptic should have released by now several factions instead of two and allowing multiple faction ships to be integrated in every day Fed/Klink side! Makes no sense and has no bearing on canon Trek. If you want to fly a Breen ship, than you should have a Breen character/faction, etc...
Also, like it or not the Connie IS Star Trek! It is the most iconic design ever and arguably all other Enterprises bar the B (Excel) were designed similarly, including the F. Really, for the amount of money the majority of folks spend on this game they should give us the option to re skin any ship we want! We should also have ALL SHIPS equipped with Universal Boof layouts like some of the ships on the klink side.
"The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward." - Rocky Balboa (2006)
Probably not going to happen, but I figured I'd toss my hat in.
I bet it will happen someday, theres so much material from pretty much every era of trek that I would be surprised if they all didn't eventually get one. I want that jacket soooo bad, and the movies vest is great too. The first six movies could probably fill two or three bundles worth of material.
From what I hear a TNG one will likely be next up though.
Actually, you can take it into STFs (particularly the normal ones) and if you kit it out with the same sort of end-game gear you're running on your other ships then you'll be able to contribute and have fun - better to do this with friends/fleet mates though as you'll likely get a tirade of abuse if you PuG it (that can be fun too though )
Yeah I have mostly Mk XII purple stuff on mine, just didn't want to deal with the abuse if I took her into a PuG STF, lol.
I'd love to have a T5 connie, can even make it an instant win on the no win scenario =D
Joking before someone inevitably takes that last part seriously. If it did happen some upgraded blue phasers which can be bought from the dilithium store would be the icing to the cake.
Don't understand whats the obsession with constitution class. Its ugly, obsolete and weak vs the newer ships.
Giving constitution a T5 refit will be a step backwards in the game. Sure it makes some people happy, but it breaks immersion.
Also, this guy asking for an LtC Tac and LtC Sci proves my point that most cruiser captains want their ships to behave like escorts and be indestructible.
This also makes all the other buff cruiser threads MOOT because it is mostly self serving vs being better for the game in general.
To me .It is the best darn looking ship in Star Trek.

Sorry but I don't agree.
I know a lot of people love the Connie, but it had 3 years of screen time vs 7 years for the Galaxy class. If you look at most conventions, you see more TNG costumes then TOS ones. So the Connie is not "the most iconic" Enterprise.
Screen time alone means more people will think Galaxy then Connie when someone says USS Enterprise.

The six TOS movies were released over a span of twelve years. The new JJ movie is the highest grossing star trek film of all time, in some form or another, the original connie is the most iconic and long lasting Trek ship, the Galaxy is completely based of it's design.
I personally don't really like the constitution class and dislike the idea of a T5 version, but with that said I also understand peoples wish to fly their favorite ship and that the ship actually be decent. So in all honesty I don't have a problem with it being added to the game. Everyone should get to fly what they want.

But the original connie was not in the JJ Abrams movie.
Wow you are good, oh wait I did not say the Galaxy was so I guess you are reading between the lines. Oh wait I was not implying it was in the new movie. Not sure what your comment had to do with my quote.

To see if any piece of pop culture is iconic, one must apply "The Granny Test". Ask granny. Odds are she'll know Kirk and Spock before Picard and Riker.
Make no mistake: TNG is greatly deserving of the love it gets. But all of that was more due to it being a very good hour long drama than the gear on display. TOS, being from the era it was, needed to wow audiences with tech. And we all know they were so successful at that young nerds went forth to make that tech come true. I'm tapping this out on the great grandchild of Kirks communicator and Picards PADD right now.
Even is this game we accuse people of wanting to be The Kirk. TOS is the heart of Star Trek and will always be. Both versions of the Connie is part of that. Aside from the Defiant (One of the many welcome ways DS9 broke the mold) and the time ships, all the other designs were variations on it.
Matt Jefferies created something fabulous back in the 1960s. A look that stood the test of time and became the basis for all that follows.
Respect the Connie. Love the Connie. T5 the Connie.

It all depends on who grew up with what. My self, mention Star Trek. I'm thinking Kirk, and the Connie. And later the Epic version of the Connie Refit. The fly by on the TMP with her in dock. That scene was just epic, and will always be one of my favorites. Comparing those 2. It was like seeing your girl on a date. All dressed up. Then for TMP was like seeing her as your bride. Granted the Galaxy was a good looking ship. But the first time I saw her, didn't seem as epic. Now when First Contact came out with the Sovereign. That was an epic view as I was like wow that ship was wicked. So I'm more likely to think Sovereign over the Galaxy when asked about the TNG days.

<snark>Cryptic will have to figure out how to allow players to filter-out what model of ships that they see in space so that they can preserve their precious "immersion".</snark>
This is a game, not reality and not a TV-Show. There is an implied allowance for individuality and creativity that at any other time Starfleet probably would not tolerate.
Immersion is in the eye of the beholder. Everyone grew up from a different era of Star Trek and this is "their" Star Trek. This is what Star Trek is to them.
Perhaps a TOS Airdate Anniversary, there should be a special TOS Mission with a Enterprise Class that can create a limited availability. A mission involving a special fleet of ships that were thought to be lost, but were recently discovered. They were Constitution-class ships that had a special purpose/characteristic that made them the right ship to retrofit (becoming Enterprise-class) that no other ship would be able to do.... or something like that.

I know. I truly am amazing. But wait, it gets better! The JJ Abrams movie has a Constitution Class vessel in it named Enterprise! Captained by Christopher Pike initially. And then Spock. And then Kirk.
It's like the natural hat trick of awesome. And there isn't a single Galaxy class ship to be seen. It's almost as if Abrams took one long look at the TNG movies and said to himself, "the line must be drawn here. This far. No further."
Constitution is like Chris Paul in Houston. The All-Star Game MVP. No doubt.
Special event or C store. I would take one. Just like the Ambassador event, I did it the 1st weekend to get mine. C store, I couldn't hit the buy button fast enough if it was there.
I'm all for a T5 Connie and will put it to good use.

I was not trying to feed a Troll but apparently I fed you well.
Do people not understand that the reason a T-5 Connie is not in the game is not because of PWE or Cryptic. It is because CBS says No to the T-5 Connie.
People have been asking for a T-5 Connie since launch and if it hasn't been added since launch nor since PWE has taken over unless CBS has a change of heart it will not happen.
We know from lock-boxes and other things in the C-store that PWE is about milking as much money as they can out of people. If it were up to PWE, the T-5 Connie would be in this game already.
If people are so set on the T-5 Connie, go to CBS they are the ones stopping it from happening not PWE or Cryptic.

The correct action is to pressure both companies. Cryptic and PWE's words will speak louder than a couple of emails. That's just the way businesses work.

It hasn't worked yet and it has been going on for years. Other demands that are in Cryptic and PWE's control are addressed but this is something out of their control. So if you want it done, take it up with CBS they are the ones that are saying No.
