Question about damage types and modifers

painstixpainstix Member Posts: 35 Arc User
Hello all, I was hoping to get a few questions answered here. First, I was wondering if certain enemy types are more resistant to certain damage types in STO?

For example since Borg use disruptor, will you do less damage to them if you use that damage type vs say phaser or antiproton? Or are they more vulnerable to that type because they use it?

Second, in regards to crit severity: Is +50 crit severity better or worse then +50% crit severity?
Im not sure what the difference is between a flat bonus to crit severity vs. a percent based bonus.

Am I figuring crit severity % wrong?:

If I have 60% crit severity in game when I look at my attack screen with no wepons on.
Then I add 4 weapons to my ship that all have modifer +30% crit severity, is it 30%*4=120% then 120% of 60% base= 72%. so 72%+60%=132%?

Thanks for any help you can offer. Im a bit lost on the better of the two modifers for crit severity, and how to figure what they are actually adding when you put weapons on with them.

Not seen any evidence that any faction has defense for their own energy type. I've always assumed it is not the case because it would be a bit un-fair to players using that energy type.

AFAIK, the PVE foes doesn't have any damage resistance for a special damage type. You can hit borg with disruptor/plasma and it's fine. As much as using anitprotons and phasers.

It was my understanding that +50crit severity is the same than +50%. I could be wrong though.
