Tactical Analysis of a starship

So, I honestly don't know if this was suggested before, but I'd like a "Tactical Analysis" feature added to the game.

Q: What does "Tactical Analysis" do?
A: Those of you who have watched Star Trek may already know this but I'll telll it anyway. It'll give you a look into the tactical systems and capabilities of a ship.
In STO, this means a peak at how or with what another player has equiped on his/her starship and tbe BO abilities of the player(?)

Q: How would it operate?
A: Pretty simple, just right click on the player's ship and in the drop down menu should be made available the option of "Technical Analysis"

Q: Who all would you be able to scan?
A: This is something I have no control of, but I suggest we be able to scan any player vessel: klingon, federation and even NPC ships. I fly through sector space and I at times am as curious as curious george what everyone is equipped with!

Q: When can you scan?
A: Now... this is a question which is debatable. I don't know if you should be able to scan each other in PvP(?) or not. I'm not a PvP'er so I do not know the sentiments involved here...However, I do think you should be able to do it in sector spaces, and instances of sector patrol and STFs, etc.

Please discuss the above suggestion. It's just an idea that I thought would be nice to have in the game. It doesn't have any real advantage (or may have) but is a really cool thing I'd personally like to see in-game and so I post it here to see how the response is. Maybe if it's something that's been on the minds of most the community all along I think Cryptic may even take this into consideration!

EDIT:
So the results one could obtain from "Tactical Analysis" are:
- Player/NPC equipment
- Player/NPC BO layout/capabilities
- Player/NPC ship power levels

    Cryptic already have such a function (albeit in a buggy form) through the Gateway. Data from the Gateway could be fed back into the game to create the feature that you suggest.

    Your suggestion is immensely cumbersome and impractical for PvP. As for PvE, you can figure out this information by simply going to the STO wiki.

    That being said, I would like a way of being able to see my enemy's power levels and shield regeneration rates in PvP, while it would be exceedingly useful in PvE to predict when an AI unit will use some abilities a few seconds before they are actually used.

    I'm sorry, I must have missed out the part where I mentioned that I have no clue about it being implemented in PvP as I'm not a PvP'er and even marked it as ? to suggest it as debateable. In either case, I'd let a PvP'er walk in here and agree/disagree with it. My main focus over here is it's implementation in PvE.

    Again, the AI genuinity may be obvious but I ask does it actually hurt to have them scanned? And sure the ship power levels is a good addition to this suggestion.

    tie it to the scanning system,click on a ship and have a mini window pop up with ship stats bare bone maybe text only

    You said something about right clicking on an enemy's ship to bring up the information. That is what makes it cumbersome, and showing too much irrelevant information is not very useful. Making it show up in something like a pop-up window would basically be a distraction.

    As for PvE, my statement still stands. What you've described thus far is pretty much all fluff and no crunch.

    Well, that's all I could think of. Do you have any crunch suggestions? How would you prefer it work?
