KDF type of defiant

Elo guys,

i am looking for sugesstions for picking ship on kdf site, wich should be simular to defiant styl. I really like to be agile, do masive damage/dps and able to run away in those "oh god"situations. My build is totally cannon focused atm. I am asking cose i have no experaince with kdf ships.

    I haven't had much experience with the KDF as I mainly use my character to grab contraband and I fly a bird of prey, but a Raptor sounds closest to the defiant. Quick, has a standard cloak, etc.

    fleet or retrofit somraw is your best bet. basically a patrol escort with a cloak. or the nasican ship, it has a 17 turn rate, but no cloak. both are actually very good escorts, something the KDF went without having for quite a wile

    The Qin has the same BOff and console layout as the Tac Escort retrofit.

    Differences are:
    Defiant has 2 additional turn-rate (the Qin's TRIBBLE-heavy though, so it's probably nearer 3-4 points until you get used to it).
    Defiant has 0.07 additional shield modifier

    Qin has built-in cloak (so doesn't need to use a console space for it)
    Qin has 3,300 additional hull
    The mirror Qin will switch the ensign tac for an engineering tac, so you can also get rid of "useless third Tac ensign sydrome".

    Also, you can get the Fleet Qin at T1 shipyard, which is much better for small fleets than the T3 shipyard you need to get the Fleet Defiant.

    Hohsus, Brel, somraw or qin probably ?

    For DHC build. On that videao u use torps i see (clusters ?), so dono how would work with cannons alpha strike :)

    Any thoughts on Scourge fleet destroyer?

    I know it's expensive and all, and i advise you to only do it when you have a very good character that can maximise out this ships potential.

    I'm the guy that uses unconventional builds, and don't fall to the normal. I also don't believe in "No-BS" TRIBBLE, it's in the game, it's ready to be used. Think Clint Eastwood in Heartbreak Ridge.

    So you want to be able to dogfight, have enough maneuverability and staying power to do some serious damage while being able to absorb no small amount that comes back.

    If you want to dogfight but aren't married to cloak, the Temporal Destroyer, Fleet Nausican Ship, and Jem'Hadar Attack Ship are excellent choices.

    If you are married to cloak, the Fleet Somraw is excellent.

    If you prefer a more even balance of "hitting" and "running," rather than mostly "hitting" and little "running," the Fleet Ho'sus and Fleet Norgh are excellent choices.
    If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.

    Okay you got me! I don't use a cannon alpha. Cannons take so damn LONG! :eek:

    I prefer the BO3 Doorknocker with 4 HYT RIGHT behind it. Just...so...FIESTY!

    I really do like the Qin. But...Here's the thing.

    If you're going to be considering timing your Alpha Strike to those moments when the enemy is least able to defend against it then GREAT! Consider BO3 and HYT as those abilites can take advantage of even the smallest gap in defenses. And once defenses come back up there isn't much in the way of effective attacks for a Tactical. :( It's just the way it is.

    Soon, someone will post on thier awesome bleed damage using DHC's. Sad.

    But if you want to stay in the fight after the alpha, hang around and wait for a second chance without cloaking, take the raptor. GREAT ship for that sort of work. You want to put 4 cannons on it? Sure you go ahead.

    Scourge is great, but no cloak at all so you miss out on that little bit of fun surprise attack. Otherwise yah its a fine ship.

    EDIT: I just rewatched that video. There's a BUNCH of vids up now so I lose track of what's what. This one has one of my favorite match ups between a BUG ship and a Fleet Raptor. Since the BUG ship was mentioned as a possiblity you may want to watch that epic slugfest! It's at the end of the video!

    Atm i have fleet scourge and i have nice cannon build. (retrain it 4 days ago). But i was thinking to try BOP cose of battle cloak (never tried it yet). ?Like i said i have no experiance and atm flying scourge wich is nice, on Fed site i have fleed defiant (5 tac) so i am used to NOT have cloak :) Like i said, to buy raptor just cose reall little upgrade from scourge i dont see point. And having standard cloak is not something i am looking for.

    Is there any way to use cannon build for bop or...?

    Waaaay back when...when dinosaurs roamed STO....I never even used Omega. It was just CRF3 and HYT3. Things were that easy! Now with TT doing such a pro job of distributing shields allowing for a defender to raise OTHER defenses to complement that skill just CRF doesn't always do the job of dropping the shields and killing your foe or even dropping them long enough to allow for a HYT shot.

    Timing HYT with CRF is actually a bit harder than doing it wih BO3. It can be done, there is just an extra variable to track.

    That being said, can you use ALL cannons? Give it a go I say! Load up on energy damage consoles and have a ball. YOU can be the one to come back and tell US how it works out.
