Ship Weapons: I'm rather lost...

I was away from this game for awhile, but decided to come back for some reason I can't really even understand. The first thing I'm noticing is that ship weapons are suddenly really hard to come by. The old borg requisition equipment is gone, and via the rep system, the only things that seem to be available are...romulan plasma weapons? Is plasma suddenly good now? I always remember it being the worst choice.

So am I right in assuming that the only way to get ship weapons these days are via missions (obviously not top-tier), the romulan plasma TRIBBLE, or random drops/the exchange? Or the dilithium store?

I'm pretty disappointed. In missions, certain weapon types are easily available in many flavors (I hope you like beam arrays, rofl) while others (hai turrets) are practically nonexistent. Thankfully, ground weapons don't seem to have this problem.

So what's going on? How do you guys get your ship weapons these days?

Fleets Stores carry all standard weapon types in Mk XII with [DMG]x3 and a forth non-[dmg] mod of your choice. There have been hybrid weapons of various types that have come with the lockboxes in MK XII (current is Phased Polaron which has Phaser and Polaron procs... even though the name means something else in canon.)

Plasma has been buffed while you were gone, and the Romulan type have a Disruptor proc along with plasma burn.

Plasma weapons are terrible for PVP because most people are running MACO/Honor Guard or Omega Force shields, which provide a flat bonus to defense against Plasma. They're just fine for PVE, though.

And yeah... if you want Mk XI Very Rare weapons, you gotta shell out Dilithium for them. For Mk XII weapons, you need to hit up the Exchange.

The new "endgame" for ship weapons are actually Fleet weapons now, and to acquire them you have to belong to a fleet that has unlocked them.

I'll give it a shot. You are mostly correct though.

    1) The Romulan plasmas aren't necessarily bad as they have the plasma dot proc and the disruptor proc, and consoles from the fleet Romulan embassies can give additional plasma dot procs on all energy weapons.

    2) Another weapon source is high level fleets, but there are restrictions on the weapon types. Requires being in an high enough level fleet or arranging temporary membership to buy though. Not being an fleet person I'm not the best source of information on these.

    3) Some of the lock boxes have new hybrid (double proc) weapons that you can get from them or off of the exchange (polarized disruptors, phased tetryons, and phased polarons).

    4) Crafting (pretty much junk) and random weapons form some DOFF missions are also potential sources of weapons).

    5) You can get the old MK X very rare weapons form Task Force Omega for dilithium also still.

Fleet weapons, huh? Guess I'm boned there, as I can't say I've been impressed with fleets in this game. I guess I'm looking at EC grinds for exchange gear and maybe some romulan plasma TRIBBLE for pve.

Anyway thanks guys. I guess somebody at cryptic didn't want to copy over the ********ton of mk x, xi, and xii ship weapon types from the borg store. Can't say I blame them, to be honest.

Seriously though, for the love of ****...Cryptic, please put more turrets in the missions. :)

lol well fleet weapoms are not as good as they are made out to be but they seem to be the most standard way to get XII Weapons and supposedly they are beyond very rare and moved onto ultra Rare, but mej... meh.... meh.... to tell you the truth if you run alot of stf's then the Borg weapons are till top notch i was doing some stfE's and i was hitting shields to bring them down and i hit 2-3 times for 1k damage and the shields just vanished in an instant it was glorious. Though i don't think borgs in the series have shields... could be wrong though.

Though you can always buy that one ship to get access to spiral wave tech, ihear that's all the rage nowadays :P but anywho the episode weapons only get you so far and going to Mem Alpha has to suck bu that seems to be the most viable way to get it done. If you find some other way let me know or heck I'll grind away with you until we find a better way to circumvent Cryptics stupid new system.
