An obvious Romulan faction suggestion

Surely one of the higher-tier Romulan ships will be the Scimitar. We learned in Star Trek: Nemesis that the Scimitar had 52 pulse disruptor cannons, 27 photon torpedo launchers, and two layers of shielding.

Much appreciated. I'll see you in PvP.

I certainly hope the D'Deridex will be a/the high tier ship for Romulans. I'll have nothing to do with anything Reman from that awful movie they were in, thank you.

In all respect, if they don't put the Scimitar into the game, Romulan supporters will be enraged.

And if they do, all the non Romulans will scream that it is OP.

The D'Deridex will very much likely be a Tier 4 ship since it was mainly see in the TNG era and refit for Admirals.

The Enterprise-E in Nemesis had 16 phaser arrays, and 10 torpedo launchers, we don't see that in STO, so you shouldn't expect the Scimitar to have the same. :P

I wouldn't worry, if they keep the same deloy time, people would've gotten out of the way long before you could fire the thalaron beam. And I wouldn't be surprised the cooldown time would be well over 5 minutes, so people couldn't exploit it for PvE like farming or in NWS.

It's not the Biogenic Cascading Pulse I'm worried about (since, like you said, the firing time is ridiculous,) It's the perfect cloak that would be the source of whining. Cause if I remember correctly, the cloak on the Scimitar is perfect. It doesn't have emissions like the Klingon cloaks, it's better than all the other Romulan cloaks (which are superior to the Klingon cloak anyways.) The Sci-Guys will be having temper tantrums.... "BUT MY CHARGED PARTICLE BURST IS SUPPOSED TO DE-CLOAK HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM." ./whiny child voice.

Anyways, that's just my opinion. People would probably have fits about it having DHCs, but IDC about that.

I personally would LOVE to have a Scimitar with the Thalaron Weapon. I'd fire it at Donatra, Tac cubes, gates, and anything else in STFs that has caused me so much grief/death. XD

Hope they add the ability to brainwash blind people, and make them spill drinks on their friends.

Yes, I can see the situation.

Since the NPC Scimitars don't fire while using the Perfect Cloak, I could easily see player Scimitars not being able to fire while cloaked as well.

Or if they do keep the Perfect Cloak System, I could easily see them limit it by having player ships only capable of being at minimal weapon power. And power boosts like Engineer EPS, Emergency Weapons, or Weapon Batteries be incapable of boosting power. Furthermore, torpedos are disabled for the perfect cloak (since they really didn't use torpedos in Nemesis until they fakes a cloak drop). That way you have a similar performance to what we saw on Nemesis, where if you put a Player Sovereign against it, it wouldn't be blown away as fast as they would against an Escort.

At the same time, this wouldn't trivialize the Klingon B'Rel Refits. So they would be similar, but opposite. Where the B-R only fires torpedos while cloaked, but the Scimitar can only use energy weapons (at minimial power).

I didn't say "don't add it", I'm saying don't stick me with that ugly ship as my only option to fly at level 50.

But if you remember from Nemesis (I may be incorrect here), but Shinazons Scimitar could use shields while cloaked, and it could fire energy weapons. Because when Picard rammed the Scimitar, it still had 70% shields.

EDIT: But you're right. The NPC scimitars don't fire while cloaked.

well, according to the redalert chat transcript of Dan's answers to questions the other day.... the scimitar will be one of the ships for a romulan faction. but i doubt it will be super powerful better than fleet ships kind.

I still don't believe that i'll be a seperate faction, but for the sake of discussion, maybe sensor technology has improved enough in the past 30 years that what was 'perfect' in 2379 is perfectly detectable in 2409 and so we're back to 'cloak = no shields / no energy weapons.'
