Keldon Class

veldrane2kveldrane2k Member Posts: 0 Arc User
The Chel Grett had me thinking of a hybrid Science Cruiser. The idea for the Keldon Class would be switching the Escort attributes applied to the Chel Grett with Science Vessel features. So Science and Tactical BOs and Consoles would be switched around. Set the turn rate to 11 or 12 and Shield modifer of about 1.1. Power goes from +10 Weapons to +10 Aux. Dual cannons are gone, but it gets Sensor Analysis and\or Sub System Targeting.

Keeping the 4/4 weapons would be nice but probably unbalanced with my big idea. A single hanger for Hideki frigates with the capability of using Jem'Hadar Attack Ships and fighters. That may be a bit too much unless the the weapons are reduced but the Orion Flight Deck Cruisers are a precident for 4/4 weapon carriers.

The Hideki as a shuttle/fighter should be added in the lobi store to match the tholian fighter and such.
However the Hideki is both shuttle size and frigate sized the frigate being shrunk for the shuttle/fighter but carrying the same name.

The Cardasian Fighter share the modal of the Hideki, but not the name.
I think it may also be a slightly different colour.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

I would rather the Keldon be customizable parts for the Galor. Rename the Galor as simply "Cardassian Cruiser" and have the parts interchangeable. If you want your ship to look like the Galor, then remove the Keldon pieces. If you wish your ship to look like a Keldon, then add the pieces.

    Simple. :)

The Keldon is used as an NPC ship and is considerably larger than the Galor.

Also different power sets for the NPCs.
Galor NPC operates similar to a Romulan Mogai and is sort of a cruiser escort hybrid. A Keldon is battleship size.

Both have Science attributes. Galor uses Feedback Pulse while Keldon projects holofleet when suffering 50% hull damage.

I was gonna say. The Keldon is the Cardassian equivalent of a battleship. It's much bigger than a Galor.

Since a Z-store upgrade on the Ambassador seems unlikely, a ship that serves the same general role would be very welcome:

    "Cardassian Strategic Cruiser" (Keldon-class)

    Weapons:
    4/4

    Bridge stations:
    LT tactical
    COM engineer
    EN engineer

    LTC science
    LT universal

    Consoles:
    3 tactical
    4 engineering
    3 science

    Ship metrics:
    Turn rate: 9
    Hull strength: 39,000
    Shield strength: x1.4
    Dual cannons?: No
Power bonuses: +10 to shields, +5 to weapons and auxiliary.

    Special ability:
Photonic escorts, universal console, only usable on Keldon. Creates two photonic Galor class cruisers which will fly near you and attack whatever you do. Ship auxiliary power is reduced to 25 while photonic escorts are deployed. 3 minute cooldown when escorts are turned off by player or destroyed by enemy action. Photonic cruisers are particularly vulnerable to Photonic Shockwave which does 10x damage to them.

Like the Ambassador, a science/engineering hybrid. Like the Galor, a fairly agile cruiser with below average hull and very strong shields. And adds a unique pet mechanic so it's not just another big lumbering chunk of metal.

You are both mistaken. Check Trek resources, they're essentially the same ship, just one has been given a retrofit (of sorts) to make it a different class of ship.

A Z-Store Ambassador seems unlikely. I would fully expect to see a Fleet Version though.

    Just what we need.

You know, I don't think people appreciate the fact that fleet ships cost vastly more resources than Z-store ships due to the need to build the shipyard first, and yet you are getting much less because they are unique to a given character and not retrievable.

    *sigh*

Depends on how you look at that.

Z-Store ships are for the impatient. Through building up your fleet, all you need to do is play the game and to contribute to fleet projects. Retrofit ships are free from any actual purchase anyway, and even if they weren't, fleet ship modules can be purchased from the Exchange.

If you're willing to wait (especially if you're F2P) your fleet ship is a good reward.

Z-store ship: 2500 zen to supply all characters on the account with a reclaimable ship.

Fleet ship: 2000 zen, plus however much dil it took to build the shipyard, to supply one character with a single copy of a non-reclaimable ship.

"All you need to do", indeed. :D

When you put it like that. :P
