Hate to break it to you, but the change to the STF drop rate was not because the forums.

At first Cryptic announced they were cutting down on the Dil for STFs, and the forums raged and were angry "How dare they nerf our Dil"

Then Cryptic did the greatest switch since new coke....They said the were going to get rid of Dil all together form STFs and the Forums raged some more....then Cryptic came back and said ok we are going to put it back to what they originally had plan and the forums praised Cryptic for being great and understanding.

Cryptic pretty much did what a mother would do when their child wont stop crying about candy

Kid: I want the whole bag of candy

Mom: no I'll give you 3 pieces

Kid: no i want all of it.

Mom: how about you getting nothing

    Kid: waaaaaaahhhhh not fair

Mom: fine I'll give you 3 pieces

Kid: you're the best mommy ever.

That pretty much sums up S7 and Dil in STFs.

Right on, thanks for making my point even clearer :)

Very true, except for one thing. The loot boxes at the end were put back in specifically at the forums request. ;)

Yes, everything that you need to buy with 'special' currencies (dil, Zen, lobi, fleet credits) needs to be bound to account. Cryptic probably thinks that they are making more by making them character bound, but I would think it just means people forgo bothering to get things instead. I know that's the case for me.
Sometimes I think I play STO just to have something to complain about on the forums.

As it is for me. There are quite a few things I would absolutely love to have, but the fact that they're single character only prevents me from even trying. :(

I would like to add that I would love to be able to use the Ferengi and Korath outfits on my opposite faction bridge officer. ;)

all it's done is made people less likely to make new characters, or not buy the items at all. I'd bet a very large sum of money that players would buy a lot more Lobi Store, and Lockbox items if they were account wide.

That has been the case for me. As long as lobi are character bound, I'm not likely to open any more boxes.

I'm in the camp of I don't even bother with lockboxes. Firstly the gambling element I dislike, but even if I look at it from a valuation stand point I can't open boxes on one character then get totally screwed when another character needs the lobi at some unpredictable point in the future. So I just don't partake in it, along with many others, they keep ignoring the C store and we watch the zen value fall more and more They need to balance the sales out, some people won't pay for anything, some won't do the lock boxes, they keep alienating their customers.

Lockboxes aren't killing this game. Daniel Stahl is.
Jack Emmert: "Starfleet and Klingon. ... So two factions, full PvE content."
    Al Rivera hates Klingons

To this very day I have not opened one lock box and I am enjoying the game every day I log in. Yes I would love to have more Lobi Crystals, but I will never open a lock box no matter what is in it. They could put a Jem'Hadar attack ship in one and guarantee me I will get one every other time open one and I will still not open one.

Lock boxes are a way for them to sell people ships for a lot more than what C-Store ships are going for. If they put ships up on the C-Store for 10K, 15K, or 20K Zen, people would go crazy and they know that, so here comes lock box ships. I really don't mind that lock boxes are in the game, people that open them are funding my gaming experience, thank you.

I would like to be able to buy Lobi Crystals of the exchange or C-Store. I hope Cryptic will make them unbound or at least but them on the C-Store for those people that don't want to open lock boxes, but would like more Lobi Crystals.

Meh. Bound to character makes sense from "their" point of view: the more characters you play with, the more you have to play to get the stuff you want for those characters. Their goal is to get you to play and that is good math because the other way is once you unlock the item, then there is no incentive to get it again for another character. And how do you get Lobi ... Lockboxes. How to get Lockboxes ... keys. How to get keys ... real money. you could get keys for EC, but how to get EC ... playing the game. Either way, C/PWE is achieving their goal to get the consumer to play the game.

    BtA goes against that goal.

I know I posted something everyone knows, so I'm not contributing to the solution. So I'd agree on the compromise on page 3 where items are placed in a structure that allows C/PWE to have both BtC and BtA items.

But then we'd see posts raging about "Why isn't X Bound to Account?! Fix it or I quitz0rz!!" ;)

I have opened lock boxes before, and to be fair for ?5 I was not very amused..Got some silly rare sheild (TWICE!)which is no good for my play style well that was worth it...

If they have me a mirror assault cruiser I ll be the happiest person on STO..

Its not like they give bad stuff in them its just most of it is junk to you

Never opened one since, perfer to buy already unlocked once of the exchange on day i ll get lucky for said ship >_> or better still a mirror escort :D

But like I said, all that does is make it less likely for people to play with more than one character. :P
