1/17/13 patch - new mining asteroid NPC

Okay, I went to do my mining on the fed side after the patch and now I see there's a dude ON THE ASTEROID for the mining that I can;t do anything with yet except find out he's from the FDMAA.

Great. I assume this was put in via the patch, but I haven't seen nor heard a peep about it.

How about filling me in?>

    Going to have to be something special to get people to go there again.

    Like many others I know, I have been there exactly 1 times since the ore mining started ;)

    Ill have to check that out later - i do the mining every day, 12k dil and 60+ rare traces is nice in the hour




    EDIT - just looked and he is in the bottom left hand corner near 10 different looking bigger nodes

    they upped the rewards given, during the window you can get 1500 dilithium for 5 mins work. not bad going.

    Dang, now I have to go check it out.

    EDIT: Confirmed, there is a mysterious Oompa-Loompa on the asteroid. :D

    I was thinking maybe a fleet holding, since he's talking about Mining Claims - the way its capitalized is fairly conspicuous.

    A personal holding implemented in the reputation UI could be... interesting.

    I'm gonna guess more like "Ferrengi Rep" coming soon.

    Think about it; Cryptic is quick to use existing assets before making new ones...so it makes perfect sense that differnt levels of rep (from mining, etc) would give you discounts, access to a 'Very Uber Purple" Energy whips, etc.

    Kinda like what the tuffli gives you from the get-go.

    I've had it get stuck active when attacked during mining on Nukara. It's just attached to your arm as you run around shooting things, swinging the laser everywhere. Too bad it doesn't do any actual damage though.

    Probebly going to get a token if you get to 1000points on a node, collect a certain amount and you get to cash them in for a claim of some kind, only thing i can think of atm mining wise.

    That is an awesome theory (and idea).

    I always felt that there should be something extra for breaking 1000 on mining, or even gathering radiation samples on New Romulus.

    7 minutes work for 1K Dil, and that's not during events. Anyone after that stuff who isn't mining is crazy or just absurdly bad at mathematics.

    I watch the forums (new posts and dev tracker) and r/sto like a hawk and had no idea they upped the DL given out.

    They have already said its for something coming but they wont say what. so its not a mistake but we dont know what its for yet.
