A lifetime subscription also grants you access to all of the rewards listed here, from day one (some items are level restricted or have other stipulations): http://sto.perfectworld.com/community/veteran-rewards

Like Branflakes said ... you now get all of them immediately as soon as you buy a Lifetime.

I've been enjoying my LTS. Got it summer after the 1st year, if memory serves. The ship is pretty neat to mix up my time with ships (until my main toon sits in the Ambassador and never leaves). The stipend is a decent perk to me. The android Boff that'll be fleshed out after tonight patch, from what I understand. The uniforms are alright, something different to wear. I like the combage, of course its just vanity. I really enjoy Star Trek and seeing that (TO ME) will be the last game related to the prime universe, I'll play it until they shut down Starebase One.

Exactly, I was roughly at day 800 when they switched it so LTS got all the perks upon purchase. Got to fly the LTS ship the day the game hit 1000 days.

    YES!

    But you have to be a Vice Admiral to be able to fly it. Here is the ugly ship;

    Yes.

You also get a free shuttle.

Dont forget the 600 day Vice-Admiral ship token, so you can also have 1 of the following: the Defiant Retrofit, Voyager Retrofit, or Galaxy Retrofit.

So three ships... all for you. :D

In all honesty, unless you desperately want something from the lifetime veteran rewards i wouldnt recommend going lifetime.

Even with the 500 zen stipend every month it will take 5 years of stipends to make back what you spend on the $299 for the lifetime. And to be honest the veteran rewards are not really that great, out of all of them i only use the alternate future combadge.

Ultimately it would be wise to save your money and just buy the zen whenever you need it...

Speaking as a lifetimer from before launch, I would seriously consider getting a lifetime subscription to this game now instead of the impulse buy when I got it 3 years ago. Saw the lifetime subscription and knew that I was going to be here for years so getting it was a very good deal. Now is a completely different story considering that you can get most of the perks that subscribers get by paying only $15 for a one month subscription when you are leveling your character. If you have the money to burn, then go for it. Otherwise, use the money on something far more useful.

The cost of a LTS is both saved and paid back after purchase

    $15/month X 12 months =$240 in savings
    $5/month X 12 months = $60 in earnings

Then there are the things you will instantly aquire

4 respecs =$20 And thats 4 per character so the more characters you have the more actual value and even new ones get it so bonus.
    3 ship slots = $7.50
    2 costume slots =$2.50
    2 character slots =$6.25
    Liberated borg BO =$5.00
    1 VA ship token =$20.00

So thats an instant rebate of $61.26

Then theres the theoretical costs for things you can not purchase

    $50 for the 2 ships
    $5 for the captains yacht
    $.30/hour for the 5% skill boost X 8765.81 hours a year =$2629.74

    Just food for thought

I'm going to play devil's advocate for a second.

I have a lifetime sub. But I got it before the game launched. Is it worth getting a lifetime sub now?

Well, that depends on why you want it.

Yes, the lifetime sub comes with perks. You get the exclusive lifetime stuff like being able to make a character with crazy Borg implants stuck in their head. You get all the Veteran rewards, like a couple of starships that think they're transformers. You get all the regular benefits from a normal monthly subscription.

These are all nice things. I enjoy them. They're also not necessary. I could easily do without them.

The fact is, STO's actually pretty good for a F2P game in giving complete access to almost everything for free players. You can quite comfortably play the game without spending any money. That's a good thing. So if you spend money, you must want to.

I bought a lifetime sub in part because I wanted to support the game. I occasionally still buy a little Zen here and there - none of the stuff I've spent on is absolutely necessary to me, but hey, I show my appreciation for the game, I get something in return.

Do you think the game is worth your money? If not, then keep the money. If yes, then get the sub.

The thing which has always deterred me is the fact that, as acylion said, 99% of this game is utterly free. The few exceptions are the veteran ships and rewards, and the legacy unlocks. And the point is, they are indeed few, nowhere near enough to motivate me to pay a substantial amount of money for. Would I say the same 2 years ago? Probably not. Especially considering the lack of a F2P model. I don't doubt that players who bought their LTS way back when have easily reaped more than an equivalent amount of rewards back. But F2P has changed everything.

As the previous poster mentioned, there is a lot of stuff included that has value if you were to buy it on the Zen Store. I don't even think they mentioned the extra Inventory and Bank space, which is super handy. You get all that stuff, in perpetuity, across all your characters present and future. And you never pay another sub fee again.

Now, the one caveat I would give is that you should buy it on sale. It tends to go on sale for $200 USD a couple times a year. Wait, buy it then. The value proposition is much better, and it pays itself off sooner.

It is. :) Even if you don't bother with the phaser lotus, it's still a nice ship. It has TWO universal boff slots a LtC and an Ens. Thus it's a very flexible ship. It has many aspects of a Cruiser/Escort hybrid, but it's NOT a battlecruiser. Chimera is more Escort than cruiser.

I've found that it's not even really worth getting a monthly sub for this game, or at least not worth paying for one each month. Monthly subs get so little for free compared to the sliver accounts other then for the sake of supporting the game, I can't see much reason to get one.

I do spend $5 or so a month to buy zen for the sake of buying stuff from the c-store. But I find that since I was once a subscriber, I have so little reason to do so now that I can't justify it.

If you feel like you'll roll more then 3 toons then the LTS is worth it. If you only feel like you'll play 1 or two then an LTS is more questionable.

But I think as a lifer you get what 5 toon slots? And you can delete and re-create them with out fear of losing inventory space. Any inventory space you buy in the Cstore is lost when you delete a toon.

Don't forget the KDF gets free ships too. So really you get 6 ships "free".

Me and my hubby are hoping for another lifetime "sale" we joined less than a month after the last one but noticed they seem to have them every 3-6 months. we accually are kinda hoping for a twofer combo package with Champions Online get both save a bit of money.

I think this would be really smart because it would function kind of like a two park pass does for disneyland people would spend most of thier time on thier pet game but theyd also go to the other and spend zen make friends.

this may get more roleplayers on sto and more people in general on CO. and even the people that don'tbuy the lifetime may be pulled into dual gaming by the lifetimers that are.

now of course if somone already has one of the games they just get a discount.

this will also be good when NWO comes out buy one for 300 2 for 500 or 3 for 600
or if you already have lifetime on one buy another for 200 or both for 300
if you have lifetime on TWO buy the third for 100!

doing it this way will encorage people to support more games and it wont make people regret already having a Life time membership or two.

That's not a bad idea. Although it depends on people actually wanting to play two or more Cryptic games, each of which is in a vastly different genre.
