I think and many others in the game that its time to raise the 8000 dilithium refine cap for S7.
You have raised the farming dill but you didn't raise the Refine dilithium cap.
Now I can play in the weekends andfarming enough Dilithium to refine everyday until the next weekend.
You'd probably be somewhat more successful in asking for the Titanic to be raised...

I really hope cryptic doesn't raise the dilithium cap. If/when they do, it is highly likely they will also raise the item costs to match the new cap. Which just makes more grinding for the same items.
Thats what having extra characters are for. You don't need to fully take a farming alt through the rep system and spend a lot on gear for him, just get him to level 50 put him in patrol escort with rare and very rare gear from exchange it is more then enough to farm STFs, fleet actions and officer reports. Just play that character whenever your main reaches refinement cap.

You go-getter, you. I just park mine in a sector that gives good doff missions and wait. It helps to have your Klingon on contraband duty.
So, the original idea still stands. I would like a Dev to answer this question and fanboys to stop speculating.
My questions:
1. Why is it capped at 8k?
2. Has it even been considered raising the limit?
3. What are the possible complications from raising the cap?
To be honest, I really have never seen a satisfactory answer from a representative of Cryptic. Just a lot of BS from players who really do not have the answer and should pipe down. Maybe I just have not found the answer on the forums yet.

Well, I won't attempt to explain it, lest I be accused of spouting BS, but I can tell you that the rationale for the dilithium cap was explained on the forums around the time the dilithium economy was introduced.
Unfortunately, that was before the forum upgrade, which would make those explanations extremely hard to find. I just did a quick search and came up with nothing, but it's out there somewhere.
I think it would be helpful for a dev to pop in and repeat the rationale (or provide an updated version, if it has changed over time). It probably wouldn't change anybody's mind, but it's still nice to have the info out there.
Edit: Hmm, didn't look too closely at the year on the Page 1 posts.
...talking to players is like being a mall Santa. Everyone immediately wants to tell you all of the things they want, and you are absolutely powerless to deliver 99% of them.
I don't want the cap to be raised - As I agree with others that all that'll do is lead to prices going up (And I only just gather 8,000 a day on one character, let alone more, and sometimes not even that), and possibly leading to an economic slump (I'm mainly thinking of the Dilithium Exchange here).
What I wouldn't be opposed to though, is a new reward for some content (Possibly during bonus weekends and other special events) of refined Dilithium. Not a lot. Just 40/50/60 a mission on a reasonable cooldown, not too long and not too short... Perhaps as an optional reward - Give the choice of said small amount of refined Dilithium, or double that in ore...
The 8000 refined dilithium is very small but there are ways around that.
Use your main toon for all missions and stfs.
Build up roughly 4 to 6 new toons, park their ships at the dilithium asteroids when you can,and use them to farm dilithium each day.
Once those farmers have built up enough, simply refine it,and transfer to your main toon.

1. Throttling the generation of usable dil. Why? More dil / less zen makes the D:Z price go in favor for dil. While this sounds awesome for people who want Zen, it's a nightmare for the people who actually pay for this zen since they get less dil per zen (2000 zen with 100 or 130 is a difference of 60000 dil...).
2. They added another 500 dil per day with the mines, so yeah, they probably did. But for reason 1 it's has to be throttled. You *can* actually make 16000 dil per day by farming 2 chars.
3. There has to be an equilibrium. When one or the other sources dry up or flood the market, prices change or even crash.
That's quite the paradox, how could you nerf nerf when the nerf is nerfed. But how would the nerf be nerfed when the nerf is nerfed? This allows the nerf not to be nerfed since the nerf is nerfed? But if the nerf isn't nerfed, it could still nerf nerfs. But as soon as the nerf is nerfed, the nerf power is lost. So paradoxally it the nerf nerf lost its nerf, while it's still nerfed, which cannot be because the nerf was unable to nerf.
I dont see the problem how it is now. . .yes i usually have lots of unrefined dilithium that I have to wait to refine, but like others have said it keeps people logging in. . . plus it keeps me from spending all of it at once on shinys

Indeed. The KDF have a darn good line on contraband.

I call it, the Stoutes paradox.

When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
