I notice that when you hit brace for impact with SD doffs on active duty that it heals your shields.

I have 3 purple SD doffs on active duty on an escort is that over doing it? Should I reduce that to 2 or even add any other for 4?

Do they also increase shield distribution with out brace for impact activated when they are on active duty, lets say when you click to balance all shields or redirect shields to the forward shield facing shield?

This seems to be a great combination Brace for impact and SD doffs what other really nice combos are there or what other DOFFS should I have on active duty with my escort?

The maximum number of a specific doff you can equip at one time is 3. 3 Purple Doffs is a little overkill, but it depends on what you want to do. If you are forever running out of shields and are relying on this as a reliable shield heal, 3 is fine.

It used to be that it acted as a Heal over Time but they changed that so it's now a lump heal, a bit like emergency power to shields or a battery is. They don't do anything extra like distribute the shields but it can be quite handed when paired with tac team.

There are plenty of other doffs you can add on active duty. Personally I recommend damage control engineers so that you can either cycle two emergency weapon powers or have only one copy of empts and something else like DEM.
