Yeah, GPL is a "useless" currency simply because it can only be spent on novelties and trinkets. you can't even buy a COMMON phaser array with it....

Would people be opposed to Lobi store items being purchasable with Latinum if the costs were scaled well?

Possible example being; Ferengi Energy Whip 50 Lobi or 200,000 GPL.

Maybe all Items in the Lobi store would not be available for GPL perhaps just the Ferengi items, like the costumes.

It can't "only be spent on novelties and trinkets". There are several DOff missions involving GPL, mostly trades for commodities including one that involves you giving GPL in exchange for Contraband (there's also one that goes the other way... don't do that one :P).

Also, you have to give GPL to get the very rare Entertainment Hologram DOffs, via critting on the very rare variation of Special Deal on Entertainment Provisions.

I have been thinking there should be a Ferrengi Black Market vendor at DS9 that sells random Mark XII gear, maybe 6 - 8 Rares and 2 - 4 Very Rares. His stock would change every day and would cost like 100,000 GPL for a Rare and 250,000 GPL for a Very Rare.

If you have the latinum, it would give players a reason to make a trip to DS9 every day. Once in a while you could get lucky and see that 30 million EC console you always wanted...

Technically true, but missing the point. Doff missions that require GPL only need a small amount. If you play Dabo for a while you can get 100k or more.

Also... if you want blue and purple Entertainment Holos, grind Hamlet! Special deal is the hard way now. :p All Hamlet needs is 20 Entertainment provisions.

I am not holding my breath.

We gave Cryptic a bunch of great ideas of stuff that GPL could be used for.

The only idea they used was ground holograms.

Everything else ended up in the Lobi store.

There's no reason why GPL shouldn't be folded into one of the other currencies. Merge it with dilithium, since it doesn't make sense to be using starship fuel as a currency when it's needed for the actual war efforts as actual starship fuel. You can have un-pressed latinum as the new dilithium ore, and gold-pressed latinum as the new refined dilithium.

There really just need to be more ways to acquire Lobi crystals in general; I considered getting that universal console from the temporal warfare set, but then when I looked at the yields on Lobi crystals I gave up; you'd need to get the maximum on twenty lockboxes to get a single piece of the set, or more realistically around 30 lockboxes, meaning you'd effectively be paying 3,375 ZEN for one item!

Farming them from episode re-runs is a joke at 20 per run; that's 10 months for one part of the Temporal Warfare set, and they're some of the least overpriced items on offer!

A duty officer assignment that cost latinum to go searching for Lobi crystals could be okay. Even if the yields weren't great it would at least allow you to farm the crystals over time, even if it's several weeks worth of assignments. I'm okay with duty officer trade assignments involving latinum, but one for lobi crystals would be a nice step in the right direction.

So you know, you can only get the lobi from re-runs once per toon, and they aren't tradable. In other words, you can get 20 free lobi, which will save you like 4 or 5 lockboxes that you don't have to open.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Actually, I am fairly certain that you cannot "farm" them. Once you get a lobi crystal as part of the accolade, I don't think it will be there the next time you play the mission with the same character. I could be wrong about that though.

You can't merge Lobi with any other currency. Lobi is their guaranteed method of making money, especially since most Lobi can only be acquired by way of lock-boxes, which are a HUGE money maker. As much as I would love this (always wanted that recluse sitting there mocking me with its 800 lobi cost), I wouldn't be able to support it in good conscience.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)
