And how? I've been wanting to crack open some lock boxes, but unless I can make at least 1200 or so zen a day it'll take a while to get some 10 packs. Not gonna spend a million per key- unless I can make millions a day selling things on the EC.
I have 2 toons, 1 fed 1 kdf. My fed runs 5-6 elite stfs a day and my kdf runs 2-3 elite stfs a day + maurauding doff assignments for contraband plus other things
I regularly refine 16k dill a day, which at currentrates gets me 175-ish zen a day.
48k dil (500-550~ zen) when, and if, i'm in the mood or really want to buy something. 6 chars, 3 of them only contraband, the other 3 a mix of stf/investigate officer reports/gorn minefield, whatever is not in cooldown. It's a pain in the back but i can't use real money for a game (i have to eat.. u know :P).
Right now I have two Orions running marauding missions and collecting contraband. I check them once a day, and set a "turn over contraband" mission on each as well as a "feed prisoners to dilth grinder" mission when I can. On average that's about 2500 dlith across two tunes per day.
My main toon "Marie-Anne" when I'm on her I keep the Turn Over Contraband mission running as soon as it turns out, and I run only red DOFF missions (50 - 250 dilth each). Figure I'm playing six hours a day, so that's about 5,000 from her TOC missions, 5,000 from the orions, plus an average of four Elite STFs.
Some days I make far more than others, it really depends how much time I put into the game on a given day.
At the current 85-95 to 1 zen exchange rate, I make any where from 30 zen to 120 zen per day depending on how many time I log in and what kind of marauding Doff mission is available to my KDF toon and how much contraband I have in stock.
I can probably increase it by doing more STF, PvP, and certain repeatable missions, but I just don't have time since a new semester of school have started.
I stay an extra hour at work and make about 1800 zen after all the benefits and taxes get their share of the $$$....
Before F2P Dropped... I always had a problem with the amount of DL earned and the costs of items in the game and the c-store vs the real life cost if bought with zen when you figure how much money one could earn working the lowest paying job instead of playing the game. Granted, those working those types of jobs rarely have access to extra hours and are barely getting by to begin with... my point is mainly about the value of our time being significantly less in game vs the real world.
I guess 1 to 1 would be a little crazy (3.5 hours of time to earn and trade DL for a Vesta vs ~3.5 hours at NYS minimum wage to outright buy it with Zen)... however the current setup is just too far apart to attempt to grind DL to trade it to zen... I'd rather work a second job at McDonald's for a few hours cleaning toilets on the weekends than grind for half a month.
See my sig... you earn just over 10% of that per DAY... how about 3 or 5 percent per hour...

Good luck with them box's I opened close to 100 to get a ship, others have got them just from a couple but I ain't that lucky lol.
So you can make 1 mill ec in an hr or less depending what your doing, "Empire Defense Mission" Klingon side theres 4 of these missions they all pay Dil and are repeatable, crank the difficulty up so theres more of a chance to get MK XII drops if you play those missions on normal all you will get common and uncommon MK X which isn't worth very much at all but the MK XII can be sold for a couple of million if you don't want the item your self.
If your grinding for EC sell everything via the Exchange if an item is just above its replicator price sell it to a vendor so you can move stuff fast and not load down your inventory or mail box with TRIBBLE.
The Dil grinding once again is best on the Klingon side, do all 4 Empire Defense missions and the "Investigate Officer Reports" mission a couple of stf's and your at your daily dil limit, if you have multiple toons switch and continue before long you will have enough zen to buy a new ship let alone the lock box keys.
Those missions are relatively quick to so it gives you more time to play the game rather than grinding all the time.
i make 0 zen a day i'm keeping my dilithium for xii sets and adapted too i belive they require 10 processors 1000 marks and 9k dilithium each item currently 93k refined dilithium fed 56 59k dilithium kdf not too sure on kdf but between there:)
I am not really a grinder I play to have fun. But I earn about 300k ec/day and spend half of it on reputation.
I earn about 6,000 dil/day give 500 to my fleet, convert 2-3k to zen (20-30zen) and stockpile the remainder.
I also do one to four email spam free zen specials per week. Not the surveys, go further down the page and there are offers to sign up for email. They give between 35 and 68 zen. The occasional 3 zen to watch a video too.
So it works out to about 65 zen/day if I average my monthly total and divide by 30.

On a lazy day, I'd get 20 Zen from just my Fed alt.

I would focus on selling on the exchange and try to sell stuff.
