Galor Question

diomedesblrcdiomedesblrc Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I've been reading around and still haven't figured out what I should do. I'd like to get a Galor Class Cruiser but have learned that you can only get them off the exchange now. Then I learned they are around 70 million. So basically I have to work towards saving that much EC, and that's my only option?
Is just buying lock box keys with Zen and selling them on the exchange for just over a million the best way to get there? That's the only thing I can think of....

Any better ideas?

Nope its not. There are plenty of foundry missions that are designed for EC grinding. Now each toon is limited to a certain number of drops each day, how its done I have no clue but whatever. Between several toons and some grinding you can get the EC you need, it may take a couple of weeks but it can be done easily enough.

I guess I'm still trying to figure out the value of everything, ie loot and equipment. I work fulltime and have a family so I can't be grinding too much. I just want to enjoy the game. Just hit level 21 so I'll keep exploring and hopefully I can get one some day.
Those lock boxes are interesting - it's so tempting to open them but is starting to feel like playing the 649 lottery more and more.

You can make quite a bit of money selling the things you find in the lockboxes, so if you can get lockboxes that might contain what you want (Cardassian Lockboxes in this case), then you either get lucky and win the ship, or you sell what you find inside to work your way toward the ship.

There's a few things in each lockbox that sell for a tremendous amount of EC, and you also slowly build up Lobi that can eventually be used to buy something that sells for a tremendous amount of EC. So one way or another, as long as you're not just binding everything that drops from the lockboxes, you WILL reach enough EC to buy your Galor.

But you couldn't fly the Galor yet anyway; it's an Admiral-level ship. Save your EC while you level, don't waste it; you might have enough by the time you reach that rank without having to put in any real money.

    Honestly?

The best way to get EC without becoming involved in a niche market for a good is probably:

Level with the Foundry. Convert your dilithium into ZEN. Use the ZEN to buy things to sell for EC. Buy master keys and BOs when they're on sale but wait a few weeks after any sale to sell them. Also, try to stick to space Foundry missions because space items have better vendor prices.

On top of that, DOff system and be prepared to sell good DOffs you pick up.

That isn't true. You can still get them from lock boxes, just the boxes don't drop at the moment. There are still Cardassian lock boxes on the exchange though, and they can still be opened. If you're lucky enough when opening, you'll get your Galor.

    You have several options actually.

#1 Buy keys and open up whatever boxes are going, you might not want a Temporal Vessel, but someone might be willing to trade you a Galor for one. Failing that, you can sell a Temporal Vessel on the exchange for around 50mil (last I checked). Another 20mil on top of that and you've got enough to buy a Galor.

#2 Buy items with Zen (through real money or by Dilithium conversion) and then sell them on the exchange. The best items here are the Caitian and Ferasan Bridge Officers (I've seen them sold for anything between 10mil and 30mil) along with Lock Box Keys (about 1.7mil) and Fleet Ship Modules (about 4.7k).

#3 EC Grinding; this has been mentioned already, but simply doing loads of foundry missions and selling off everything you pick up. It'll take some time, but you'll get there eventually.

#4 Exchange Sales ~ specifically rare items and Purple Duty Officers. You can easily get 1mil (minimum) for a good Purple Duty Officer. If you sell the right ones, you could be looking at 100mil a piece.

    Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies. Opened up about 7 lockboxes today and starting to hate that, feels like I"m playing the dollar slots. Didn't get anything except lobi and some duty officier packs.

I'll just try not to think about it, have some fun, and sell everything I can.

I did get a Temporal vessel but I think there is a bunch selling on the exchange for really cheap. Cardassian lockboxes are around 50,000 EC as well.

Question - when you get the rare duty officer pack, do you unpack and sell valuable duty officers or do you just sell the pack for more profit?

I'd open the DOFF packs. You have better luck getting a DOFF you can donate to your SB or sell as compared to just trying to sell the pack.

Anyways, I personally don't recommend opening lockboxes unless you are only going for lobi with the other prizes taking 2nd fiddle.

Otherwise, selling the keys or other things is a better choice.

I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
