Has anyone tried other PWE titles. I have tried Perfect World International and just recently, RaiderZ. I was not impressed with RaiderZ, it felt like an update to PWI, not very inspiring.
Blacklight: Retribution is a decent first person shooter by Zombie Inc. / PWE, although I get the sense that its outside your requested genre. Torchlight and Torchlight 2 are awesome diablo-style games by Runic / PWE.
But Champions online is worth a checkin first... (a Cryptic title)
I'm also looking forward to Neverwinter which may be going into beta soon-ish considering they are distributing promotional codes for mounts.
Champions Online is worth a shot if you like super-hero games. I think it plays best with a controller. Even if you don't enjoy the game, the character creator is amazingly robust.
Forsaken World was interesting enough, though not my cup of tea. You could make a vampire that looked like Sephiroth, though, and that seemed to be a big draw to a certain sort of player. You could also make a loli-goth dwarf lady for some reason.
I liked RaiderZ enough to play it for a few days. It's more like Guild Wars 2 or Tera than WoW and the class system was interesting. I couldn't get into it, though.
PWI is pretty. The Chinese mythology setting is refreshing. The designs look great. Character customization is pretty good. Actually grindy unlike what some claim STO is. Once you get to the main city in your mid 20s it get tedious. Too much walking long distances to kill well spread out mobs, which require more walking to track down. And all the mobs between you and your goals are hostile so you're fighting just to get to your fights.
Best done in short sessions.
Forsaken World is also nice looking. But the character creator is limited. All of the quests are "Gather" quests. The other problems are the same as the problems with PWI. Mobs respawn quickly and are all generally in the same location, which makes the grind go a bit faster.
Champions Online? The tech demo for STO. Fun game though. Worth playing.
