over the last few days, I've been playing my favorite star trek themed RTS game/mod, Armada 2: Fleet Operations, and I was thinking, 'hey, there are some kick TRIBBLE ship designs, some of these designs I'd love to see in Star Trek Online.'

So here's a short list, and some images of the ships.

Monsoon Class
Valkyrie MKIII
Remore Class
Avalon Class
Phalanx Class
Nebula Class San Francisco Type
Nebula Class Rigel Type

Proteus Class
Argonaut Class
Hayden Class
Courageous Class
Achilles Class
USS Yeager
Dauntless Class

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong forum board, but I didn't see a forum board to post suggestions like this. Some of these ships I don't know if they've been posted or not, some of them are ships that have been seen in the TV/movies, and the rest are fan designed, but all of them are ships I'd love to see in Star Trek Online as either a stand alone player controlled ship or a ship costume.

If you feel I've left out some designs/ships, please feel free to point them out, I enjoy looking at star trek designs, tho I'm not a big fan of TOS era designs, I like sleek.

Sadly, most of if not everything you've suggested has been suggested before, and has been marked as off-limits for licensing reasons. Other games are verboten, I think, since it's the game publishers that hold the license to the original ship designs and not CBS.

That said, I don't see why STO couldn't make uncannily similar "tributes" to those ships in the form of skins or refits. Before the canon-design Steamrunner came online the Heavy Escort had Zephyr skin, and those who loved the Norway-class have to make do with the Oslo, and so forth.

Monsoon Class, Courageous Class, and The Valkyrie Class I'll definitely agree with. However, legality wise it probably won't be possible for them to add them, unfortunately.

I can't wait until Cryptic finally starts creating their own unique ship designs. Hopefully some of them will be passable as civilian ships as well because I really want to do some civilian foundry missions as that has always been the one area of Trek that is pretty much still wide open for just about anything creatively.

I hope your not making an immersion argument. Because that varies from person to person.

Having clicked the links, I'd say your aesthetic judgement is questionable.

=.= We all have our own opinions on what is "awesome" and what's "Questionable".

That sucks, tho I can understand some reasons why. But still, it'd be awesome to see some similar designs.

Agreed, or at lest work out some deals to expand the ship designs.

Yeah, as unangbangkay has stated, but I also understand the reasons. Copy rights are sometimes a real pain.

Yeah, I'd love to see some unique Cryptic designed ships.

    You have very strange taste.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once. B)

The Dauntless class is canon and we know the Federation was using them during the 26th century. I'd love to have one of those.

The other ones...I dunno. While many of them look cool, they don't look very Starfleet-ish.

"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

lol people are odd, just because it's not what you like all of a sudden what a persons likes is odd or questionable or strange.

I hate pizza but does that mean that people who eat pizza are freaks or weirdo's?

I like sushi so does that mean that people who don't like it are crazy or lame?

I did not know that everyone had to like the same thing, to walk the same path, to wear the same clothes and to speak the same words to be considered normal. That's kinda a hive or a drone mentality don't you think? Lol, that to me seems abnormal.

But I know it's hard for some people to be themselves or to accept others, so if being a hater is who you are, be you, i won't knock it, just shine a bit of light on it so you can possibly see something you may not realize.

Out of that list the Courageous and the Proteus appeal to me the most. If I ever see Yeager in STO though, I will probably quit.

The Nebulas are all canon, just classified differently. The Yeager and the Dauntless are canon. The only video game ship is the Achilles and that is would be a no. The other ones are fan created and they are odd almost to the point of fangasm ships.

I like the monsoon class I have in the list of links, not the Fleet ops screen shot, is a design I enjoy.

Yeah, they're sleek, and the Proteus is designed as a slip space ship.
If I ever see Yeager in STO though, I will probably quit.
Why? It's cannon, you see it in the back ground in DS9's opening.

I actually dislike the design of the typhoon class, but then again, it's mostly because I feel they took the same design as the sovereign and added an extra pair of nechells to it. But hey, I didn't make this thread to find out what ship designs people hate, I made it to find out what they like.

I would actually like to the Nebulas be released like the odyssey and the Multi mission science vessel. have three different nebulas each one it's own type, but each one is also a costume as well.

Actually, Remore, Hayden, Avalon, Phalanx, Proteus, Courageous, and Achilles are all game based ships, Remore, Phalanx, and Avalon are ships you see in the game/mod Armada 2 Fleet Operations. Proteus, Courageous, Achilles, and Hayden are ships that people have made and moded into Star Trek Legacy and the Armada games.

Thank you, I'm weird, we're all weird, odd, strange, and unique, that's what being individuals is all about. But hey, if you think some of those ship designs are strange choices, then please, feel free to add what you like to the list.

    Which is exactly the point:
they exist exclusively in mods, which are fan-made.
Thus the ships are entirely fan-made as well.

This is the only one from the list I would like.
    Besides... Jupiter and Typhoon first.
Failing them the last remanding canon ships.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.
