Good day, all.
What I have here is an idea the would be a perk for subscribers and hopefully an incentive to get Free to Play members to become subscribers.
I suggest adding a functionality to The Captains Table in the form of a Ferengi Currency Exchange where we could swap a LIMITED amount of the various in-game currencies for one-another with some restrictions:
Includes Energy Credits, Lobi Crystals, Fleet Marks, Reputation Marks, As-Currency Items (Borg Neural Processors, Singing Stones, etc...)
Does not include Zen or Refined Dilithium.
Does not increase the cap on Refined Dilithium.
Includes a cap on the amount of each currency that can be exchanged based on static, graduated values relative to each other. For example 5000 Energy Credits = 1 Lobi Crystal, 10 Lobi Crystals = 1 Omega Mark, 50 Omega Marks = 500 Dilithium Ore, etc... (The aforementioned is not meant to suggest actual values, but rather to illustrate the static, graduated value I'm trying to describe.)
I believe that the benefits of this would be seen in several ways:
It would lighten the grind, but not by too wide a margin.
It would give The Captains Table a purpose beyond the cosmetic.
By making it a perk for subscribers only it could serve to as a further incentive for those Free to Play members who are on the fence about subscribing.
I want to be clear that I'm not suggesting that we get some big shiny freebie, which is why I recommend a cap and using a static graduated value formula so that there is no market flooding requiring future adjustments. I think it should be just a little thing for the paying customers because, in my experience in business, little things can make a huge difference.
I admit that I have been so focused on the up-sides that I cannot see what the down-sides might be. I'll rely on my fellow players and the Devs to point those out.
In closing I have to say that I love this game. I swore that I'd never get involved with an MMO. I also swore that I'd never pay for anything I could get for free. I think we know how well that worked...
Doubt the devs would go for lobi being part of the system since lobi = $ except as being able to purchase an item with lobi. So you can sell lobi or convert it to Omega Marks, but you can't buy lobi. A suggestion I have had for the Captain's Table is to make it a Transwarp Hub by having a nebula in each social space zone or a door in each social ground zone where we can go from one side of the galaxy map to the other in a very short period of time without wasting time or the transwarp power. The door idea seems more consistent with the lore about Captain's Table since the main characters of the novels just opened a door and were at the Captain's Table. Space and Time didn't seem to be a concern on how you got to the Captain's Table. You walk through a door and enter a bar and a Captain from 2,000 years ago and 2,000 light years away could talk to you even though he didn't travel 2,000 light years or used time travel or cryo suspension to get to the bar.
Yes, I have read your many posts about The Captains Table. I dare say that it was your suggestions that influenced my suggestion that my idea be centered around that location. Which worked nicely considering the subscriber only access portion of my suggestion, so thanks for that. I like your idea too, but far prefer the "door in every social zone" aspect.
Also you raise a valid point about the Lobi Crystals. This is why I need feedback. I tend to get too caught up in my own ideas an start to miss things. So, yes, Lobi should probably be removed. Thanks for that, as well.
my guess is, you should have not mentioned lobi at all.
lobi and zen are basically the "precious" of sto.
touching them, or even suggesting to touch them is a taboo.
