Fleet Assault Cruiser in PVP

Hello,

Has anyone (Preferably an Engineer) used the new fleet Assault cruiser in PVP? Is it viable? I know that people hold the Excelsior as the best cruiser. I am more interested in the Assault cruiser myself and just wanted to get feedback on your experience.
Can it do damage with the right set up? Is it good on crowd control? I already know that it can heal so I won't ask that.... OR, should I just stay in my oddy until something better comes along?

Thanks all.

It is viable as it is pretty much just an Excelsior with some minor changes. -1 turn rate and the ensign eng BO slot turns into ensign tac slot among other minor changes.

It's essentially an Excelsior, the problem is that its inertia score is much worse compared to the Excel, making it feel much more slow, sluggish and snoozer-like. You could argue that the Fleet AC has a bit of a better time handling its shields without assistance from teammates since you can slot two TTs and veg out.

Other than that, the difference between the two is barely perceptible and since the Excel is absolutely a viable PvP ship, knock yourself out.

on a tactical cruiser, single cannons end up being significantly better then 8 beams, and an additional point in turn and better inertia just help you use them easier. an extra tac ENS has only TT, beam and torp skills, so doesn't help an all cannon build.

if you use a 2 AtB build, which makes tac heavy cruisers nearly as viable as the 3 main core types of ships, you only need 1 TT, 1 cannon skill and like 1 attack pattern then. you would have to dilute your all cannon setup with a torp or something to use the extra ensign.

an extra ET1 instead can be a nice little supplemental hull heal, especially when you use it every 15 seconds thanks to 2 AtB. at least it is when you see VM used on someone, or your not being shot at and your hull is damaged

also, the fleet assault is tier 5 ship yard, no one could even have it yet i don't think
