Why can we no longer send mail from the Foundry?

Up until recently we could receive and send mail in the Foundry. Now, for some reason, we can receive mail but not send it. Which means if I receive a mail about one of my missions or something else, I have to completely exit the Foundry, log into a normal character and then send it.

It's not the end of the world, but it's an inconvenience, and I don't understand the reason for the restriction. The only thing I can think of has to do with attaching items to the mail, and it would be easy enough to just prevent that from being done in the Foundry (and if I recall correctly that feature has always been restricted).

actually.... you can. if you go to a mail terminal. Which is a bit awkward, but not too hard.

Once upon a time long ago, you could have foundry chars send and receive items, but that changed a long time ago.
