As my KDF I have the B'rel something that always had me in awe from the first time we saw in in Star Trek III all the way into the undiscovered country when they had ine that could fire while cloaked pity that our bridge officers make ours decloak though
I know there are more effective ships out there but I absolutely love my Odyssey. There is something majestic in it's turns and then unleashing hell with a very broad sweep of AP-beams followed by a volley of quantum-torpedos.
engineer: im another on the excelsior fan list. more specifically the enterprise B/lakota stylings, been in love with it since i grew up on TNG and watched Generations. im pretty much a cliche admiral for starfleet. so i go with a proven design thats easily refittable thats recognized everywhere.
for science im still grinding my way up to buy the vesta bundle but regardless of which version i fly it will only ever be the OFFICIAL vesta appearance.
for tactical..defiant nuff said.
klingons im a bit more selective, i am a raging fan of the brel not so much on combat power as it was a practical ship in overall features. it can be crewed by a minimum of 6 people, has decent cargo space, still has room for a medical section and even has landing gear. if i were to own a ship i'd want it to be that well thought out!
I was a Big Fan of the Nebula when I first saw the ship in TNG, when they put the Nebula in this game I just had to have it... so I got the commander level one (when it was still free in the game) and when I got to the end game I Ground emblems for the T5 retrofit version.... then the starbases came out and I got myself into a position to get the Fleet Nebula when our starbase would allow for it.... then just recently while talking with some friends I said I did not thing that they would ever come up with something to make me stop flying the Nebula unless they gave me an Andorian ship.... next thing you know the vesta comes along and I just fell in love with the graceful lines and sleek appearance.... and not unless they put the Andorian Battle Cruiser in will I forsake my Vesta... its beautiful to look at, Graceful in Flight and just makes me happy to have something like this when playing the game... hell it could have been a T1 ship and I would STILL use it

Tac in a fleet excelsior. Its fun to get to scream "Respect the Old School".
Having to pick between it and my Vesta is hard choice, I wish your power bar didnt get so screwed up when switching ships.
i originally got the star cruiser simply because i liked the way it looked. i soon learned it was a poor performer. i tried everthing to make it a a good ship that could take and give damage, but it just never measured up. i no longer have that ship. needed to make room for a new ship the steamrunner.
i have strong dps ships like the mobius, armitage and steamrunner, but i still like playing around in my tholian web slinger and my oddys. i think the tholian ship looks absolutely great.
i tend to experiment a lot with the regent. no telling what set up i might have on the regent, but it is fun sometimes just to try something different. right now the regent is a beam boat loaded with newly acquired borg items and torps. i really like trying to time a good riker's manuever to do a lot of damage to multiple ships.....just for the heck of it.
If you still want a ship that looks like a star cruiser but is more damage oriented, get the Mirror Universe Assault Cruiser. Same layout as a sovy (so damage based) but the the Star Cruiser skin options.
I find that I can switch between ships, and after the first time resetting my powers, it remembers where everything is.
That's handy since I bounce between escorts.
Now if only it would remember where I put everything on ground, since no matter what I do, lock tray, everything, it always switches around my integral frequency remodulator with my 3 piece set ability (shield capacitor/adrenal booster). Sooooo annoying.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
I like the BoP design, quick and maneuverable. I also fly a BoP in PvP.
That being said. . .if you're entering PvP flying a ship that you're only flying because you 'like the look', you're gonna have a bad time. Unless it also happens to be a good ship for PvP, and you've got a useful build :P
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
As much as I love a variety of Star Trek ships, I'm afraid my favorite ship will always be the Enterprise as featured in the (original) Motion Picture. It's close enough to the TOS Constitution, but still to me looks "real" and "modern" (as opposed to the obviously fake "cardbord model" look from TOS). That scene when they take the shuttle up, flying around the outside of the ship while it's in space dock, the camera panning all around it as the music swells...
>shiver<
Ahem. If you haven't yet, watch that scene on BluRay, on a nice HD TV. Amazing!
Anyway... When I first joined STO, I may have chosen Tactical for my training, but I always knew I'd fly Cruiser, and my Main toon always has. When leveling a new toon, my favorite rank is Lt. Commander, when I get to fly a Connie which all my new (Fed) toons do, regardless of whatever I intend them to be when they grow up.
For a STO/2409 version, I'm actually very pleased, too, with the appearance of the Exeter. I really like the look of her Nacelles (pun intended, but I really do think they are a nice design). If I could get a T5 "Retrofit" and/or Fleet version of the Exeter, I would squee like a little grrl. (And yes, I know how much that makes many players upset, the idea that an "Age of Sail" Vessel could contend with a 21st Century Nuclear Air Craft Carrier, but I don't PvP, so you don't have to worry about your continuity getting beat up by my lack of one )
Until then, I'll be satisfied with my Fleet Excelsior.

Amusingly, that's one of my least favourite scenes. It's like, ugh, we get it, you have a new model for the Enterprise, I don't need to spend 10 minutes seeing every angle.
The same reaction goes for the new uniforms, and the bulge.

It's a feature, not a bug.

I get you though, I admit that movie was long and boring, and a long ship-worship scene only kept things slow. But it was nice'n'slow, eh, eh? :P
