Complete and utter bull****. I don't agree with some of the restrictions that TOR puts on it's F2P folks, but at least their sub actually has some value to it. Compared to STO, where no matter what you do you're still stranded behind a constant paywall, while "content" is created strictly to find new ways to nickle and dime you.
Yeah, because in SWToR you can earn Cartel Coins in game; and not have to pay for them only using real cash all the time...oh wait, that's right, you CAN'T earn Cartel Coins by just playing the game. Also you have to buy new zone additions using said Cartel Coins (unless you sub); and in that new content you do get purple gear drops if you're F2P; BUT you have to buy a license to wear said drops...yep, no 'paywall' or 'nickle and dime' tactics in SWToR's F2P system when they add new content...oh, wait...

I must have missed the part where TOR tries to coerce you buy cartel coins to ameliorate a series of ever more ludicrous grinds.
And thank you for recognizing that people who actually sub in TOR get things (everything short of cosmetic frippery from the cartel store to be precise), while folks who play STO have to shell out, or do yet another insane grind, if they want just about anything.

You seem to misunderstand the concept of premium content... The point is that not everyone CAN have everything.... unless they either pay a lot or do a herculean grind.
The one good thing about TOR's Cartel Market is that certain Cartel Market items can be purchased from their version of the exchange. Although, you have to wait a few days for the item to become unbound.
I am 99.99999999% certain that if lifetime subscriptions did not exist, then there would be no gold members. Everyone would be a silver member. Other F2P MMOs I have played have things like pay $4 per month to craft, $4 per month to use the exchange, and $4 per month to play STFs or spend $15 per month to be a subscriber. Here its just respecs, ship tokens, inventory slots, and veteran rewards that make a difference between the F2Pers and subscribers.
Was just skating around, grabbing snowballs, and fighting snowmen.... trying to earn enough items to get a nanopulse lirpa for Yoda. (He missed the free nanopulse items from the first Winter Wonderland).
I'll head back to a warmer planet.... maybe Risa... after the Winter event is done :P

If you wait until the next patch you can get a Bat'leth.

Shhh...if you promise not to tell them about your twin brother, I won't. I would also recommend getting the nanopulse batleth. It looks freaking cool. Saw ones yesterday on another kling at Q'nos and was very impressed.

STO content, locked behind...a paywall...less fair than The Old Republic..
...At the risk of sounding baiting: Are we playing the same game, you and I? Please explain how I have the worst stick with STO wherein I can practically earn anything I want in the C-Store with Dilithium-Zen conversion. Some Paywall.

The only "content" locked behind a paywall in STO is the EC cap. The rest of the items in the C-Store are not needed for gameplay. TOR has locked too much in the Cartel Market. I am a F2Per on TOR and some of the most basic items are locked. I started out with a Free Trial Account and lost 2/3 of my power tray, 2/3 of my crafting, and the basic ability to color match my outfit. No wonder I have not logged back in over there since S7 went live. STO offers too little to the subs while TOR offers too little to the F2P. Both games need to find the middle ground between the two for the subscrption benefits.

Actually, the Yoda who gave us that stuff was a green Ferengi. :P

Last year's "yoda" was a small green Ferengi.

Holy thread derail batman. Guys, this is about yoda, not some complex analysis of silver SWTOR and STO silver. Gosh!

What about Trek fans who are also SW fans? :P

After what Sony did to SWG I would too.
