Foundry freezes when creating new map

uncle2fireuncle2fire Member Posts: 68 Arc User
This has happened so far three times today:

I was browsing through the pre-made space maps and the Foundry freezes. I can't close the dialog box, or access the minimize button in the top right corner, I end up ctrl-alt-del-ing the whole window and having to forcibly close STO.

How to reproduce? Browse around the pre-made space maps?

This is pretty annoying, so it would be nice if someone could give me some idea of what's going on. Thanks!

I had the same problem, but I fixed it with these steps:

1.Find the Star Trek Online program folder in your hard drive (or wherever else you put it)

    2.Open the Live folder

    3.Delete the Data folder

4.Open the patcher - it will replace what was missing in a couple of seconds when you patch

    5.Everything should be fine now

This sounds like it could be an issue with on-demand patching. Make sure your network adapter drivers are up-to-date. It's possible that your modem and/or router are being overwhelmed by the game's connections; it's a sadly common problem with older hardware.

If it is being caused by the above, you can disable on-demand patching in the launcher (click the Options link at the top). It will likely mean a HUGE download with your next patch to the game, but then you won't have to patch on demand. Hope this helps. :)
