Particle Accelerator ability?

My fleet recently finished our tier 4 industrial fabricator and comm array which, combined, gave us access to all the elite fleet space equipment. I purchased (all elite fleet) an axion deflector, resilient shield, and combat engines.

In battle, without using any powers, I suddenly notice the random occurrence of a repeating ripple effect around my ship, and one of the active abilities on my ship is something with a badge icon called "Particle Accelerator". Does anyone have an idea what benefit this has and which of the elite fleet pieces gave it to me? Neither Google, STOWiki, or these forums seem to have an answer thus far.

Well the ripple effect might be one of a couple things:

    1. The 'Adapt' modifier from the shields is kicking in.
    2. Some one used the 'Team Fortress' ability.

But the Particle Accelerator itself...not sure. The only guess I have is it could be something from the Deflector you got.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Nope, the first time I saw it was during a solo Tau Dewa patrol, so it wasn't Team Fortress (although both PA and TF share the same visual effect interestingly enough). If it's the deflector, there's nothing in the description of the item that mentions what PA is or does.

Do you have any of the Reputation sets, or any of the Embassy consoles? It might be something with one of them. Does it look like the proc of the Aegis perchance, as I saw someone that had KHG set visuals, but had that look around DS9?

No reputation or embassy special goodies on my ship yet. The proc visual looks identical to Team Fortress from the Steamrunner escorts.

The fleet gear in question are:

Elite Fleet Axion Deflector Array MK XII [Flow] [Ins] [ENG] [SciCdr]

("SciCdr" seems to be the special that gives 10% cooldown on sci powers)

Elite Fleet Efficient Combat Impulse Engines Mk XII [Turn]x2 [Spd] [Pow]

(Puts my old MACO XII to shame)

Elite Fleet Adaptive Resilient Shield Array Mk XII [Cap]x2 [Reg] [Adapt]

I agree with Mimey that the adaptive shield effect is what the ripples are. Still doesn't explain PA which I've noticed is constantly in effect in or out of battle. Maybe some kind of hidden set bonus or something...? *shrugs*

Particle accelerator is passive ability to hull repair. Its something like borg equipment. I really don`t know what % to hull repair u get, and do u have an additional passives too. Try right clicking on your deflector, i think there should be description of what it is.

Only the elite fleet fermion deflectors give hull repair bonuses (as well as very undesireable threat control bonus which, for me, was a deal-breaker), not the axion. The mystery continues...

That is probably it, to a point. You, OP, probably chose the hull repair passive bonus from a rep tier up.

Hmmm, i wasn`t thinking deflectors bonuses by them self, but i think particle acc may be some kind of passive ability that helps your hull regen + some other passives but sadly it doesn`t show set bonuses. I would also like to know the set bonuses of elite stuff, bcs if they exist i (we) want to know are they good for our ships/career/boff abilities. Hoping some of Dev`s will give us some info about it

Afraid not. I chose Romulan passives that had no effect on hull, and same for Omega. I took each piece off just now, and PA disappeared when I removed the deflector, so it's definitely that. Still, no text on what PA is. Another fleetmate with the exact same deflector reports the same for his ship. At least it's narrowed down now, just wish somebody in-the-know would elaborate on this for us.

Weird, I dunno, if it's the deflector, I got no clue what else it could be at this point .

This is a bonus you get from the Elite Fleet Deflector...

If you remove the deflector, the buff from your ship dissappears

PWE forgot to add this buff into the description itself when moused over.

It is from the elite fleet deflector scicmdr modifier. Anyone know if that modifier reduces subnuke as well?

Since you have pinned down that the ability is attached to the deflector, i would assume that the particle accelerator is what reduces the cool on science abilities. Plus considering that "particle generators" enhances the damage of certain science abilities, "particle accelerator" would enhance the speed... so yeah, that would be my guess.

Yeah I questioned this yesterday also.

Here is the little passive icon ..

I recieved the following resonse via twitter ... @trekonlinegame
"It is a passive granted by a space set bonus."

Strange as there is no set description.

its a deflector bonus that grants a recharge buff to science powers, I use a deflector on my science vessels that has it.
