So my colleague and I were thinking about what Stahl said about the KickStarter project to get a Ferengi race into the game, yes I know it was a joke before anyone quips, but I just wanted to propose something we thought of,
apologies in advance if it's already been posted but here goes,
What if, there was no traditional skill system with them, but instead their level system was marked only by how much money (such as EC they have), e.g. a drive to constantly make profit, at any cost, literally. This would therefore mean that should their currency values drop so could their level! This could introduce a very interesting dynamic to the gameplay.
Their primary purpose could be to buy up stock of items on the exchange, buy up supplies from NPC's and hoard them on for stupid profits. This could open the possibility for sour dealing, such as flagging down a d'kora rolling around in sector space and perusing their inventory for an item of perceived value and maybe getting stuffed on the price, or not specifying the size of the hypo in question.
Imagine going to their fleet starbase to get that super special item that you've been after that only they currently have, because it was advertised in a new chat channel?
thoughts?
[if you think it rubbish by all means say so, but please keep this all nice and civil

its unlikely they would all be happy to be deleted
A kickstarter is like an IPO, you give a startup money so they can make money on your money, except you don't get stock or returns on your investment. It's a sad result of the TAKE MY MONEY PLEASE mentality that has been bred into consumers by corporate propaganda.
PWE and Stahl are interested in 'kickstarters' for that reason. For them, it is just another way of getting gullible people to part with their money for nothing of value.
