Zero-Point Energy Conduit console - yay or nay?

The Tier 2 Romulan console intrigues me.

If you don't know the stats, it is the following:
+1.8 power to all subsystems
+19.7 Power Insulators
+1.8% Critical Hit

I'm digging the 1.8% critical hit (with the Romulan CritH passive, tachyokinetic converter, and assimilated module, I could get 9% critical hit).

But, I'm really running out of room to put new consoles in.

What are your thoughts?

more crit, and more very impotent insulators, and 1.8 (jeez you couldnt even put 2) additional energy, hmm, not bad

I thought the 1.8 was so it didn't far surpass the borg modules power boost. But then I added it up and its 2.2 higher so I guess they thought 3 higher was to much. Defiantly gonna combo run this and the borg piece plus rom crit for my antiproton build.

"As part of the Romulan Reputation Systems one of the many new rewards open to us is the Romulan Singularity Harness Set. The pieces to this new set unlock as you climb in tier with the first part unlocking at tier 2, It offers a nice alternative to the new Omega Adapted Borg Technology Set which unlocks in a similar fashion (please see earlier blog entries on this console set)

    Here are the details:

Console - Zero Point Energy Conduit

Connecting this console to your ship will cause an increase in the all subsystems power generation, as well as additional resistance to energy and shield drain attacks. It also increases your chance to land a Critical Hit.

You may only equip one of these consoles per ship

    +1.8 power to all subsystems
    StarEnginePower

    +19.7 Starship Power Insulators
This skill grants you resistance to attacks that drain your shield strength or power from your subsystems/

Increasing this skill will cause attacks from a Tachyon beam to drain less of your shields and attacks from energy siphons to drain less from your ships power levels

    +1.8% Critical chance

    Romulan Singularity Harness (1/3)

    Experimental Romulan Plasma Beam Array
    Romulan Hyper-Plasma Torpedo Launcher
Console - Zero Point Energy Conduit

    Set 2: Plasma Conductive Circuitry
    passive
    +7.6% Plasma Damage
    +15.2 Starship Electro-Plasma Systems

    Set 3: Plasma Hyper-flux
    Targets Self
    1 min 54.3 sec recharge
Enables a special firing mode on your Romulan Plasma Beam Array
    *Deals Increased direct damage
*Applies a high damage plasma Burn DoT for 10sec
*Decreases damage resistance for 10 sec"

That is the key, it doesn't matter if there is 5 good uni. consoles, if u put all of them, u will be resigning too much of other aspects.

I'm not using my vent theta as much as I thought I was on my vetsa, so as its running antiprotons no brainier replacement. Also I plan to make a "Purify with fire build" later once all the plasma +% consoles are available through the embassy. And that works well with it due to more +% and the beams special. Gonna try and see if the energy weapons are viable way to do it now as kinetic burn builds are done and proven to an extent.

This was kinda my line of thinking too, but honestly the people saying in counterpoint that we're running out of damn console space get a +1 from me.

    We need more console slots!

Indeed. More slots. My suggestion would be some kind of insanely grind-intensive Fleet base mission. Make it 100k dilithium to complete the fleet project, then another, say, 25k to add one console slot to one ship. And make it possible only on Fleet ships, so they must first complete that grind.

I'd propose a similar treatment for weapon slots. For any fleet variant with less than 8 slots, a huge, resource-intensive grind to add one more. Maybe restrict it to mine launchers for the smaller ships, too.

Heck, I'd even propose this for the deflector/engine/shield slots. Let us grind for secondary deflector/engine/shield slots. You can put the same equipment in those slots, but they put out, say, 10% of what they would in the "main" slot. The idea here would be to snag more than one set bonus. ;)

i had an idea a wile back, that all set equipment and all universal consoles should be turned into a special token that goes into a new inventory slot. the equipment sets would just become standard equipment, and a token that represents what was special about it would be created from it.

set bonuses would be created by slotting 2-3 of each like token in these new slots, and P2W consoles would have to compete for space there. im thinking proboly 5 slots for this?

that would mean all ships could have all their consoles filled out with actual consoles, non set equipment would have a reason to exist, and the amount of P2W and or set bonuses would be reduced.

Then the zero point console might be the worst element of the set... This set is probably designed to make plasma a valuable pvp choice (the 7% dmg bonus should somewhat compensate the shield resists), but it's just a beam and not a DHC or a turret.
    *Deals Increased direct damage
*Applies a high damage plasma Burn DoT for 10sec
*Decreases damage resistance for 10 sec"

Sounds too vague to me. I think the devs should just write "does something", "decrease stuff" or "add text later" in this case. :D

Irony apart, some hards facts would be appreciated, switching to a full romulan plasma weaponry isn't an insignificant purchase and we should be completely aware of what we buy.

I would rather have the option to pay to add more console slots on one ship, up to 6 consoles in one category, or 12 consoles total.

Also, have the option to convert one type of console slot into another.

    More consoles!

How about upgrading your endgame ship (every t5 ship) to a tier 5.5 ship for 2 fleet ship modules (or an equivalent) ?

    Doff Assignment or Reputation project:

    Professional cooperation

Invite an engineering specialist to work with your engineers to enhance the capabilities of your ship.

reward - gives to ONE ship on ONE toon +1 console slot, not bound to tactical/sci/eng

you can apply this upgrade 2x to one ship
