hello i have been playing STO over 2 years now. I have before played 12hr days 2 or 3 days a week. Im in the top 1% of sto players on raptr. I love this game. Now along comes season 7 and wow after an a couple hrs im just bored discouraged and depresed. Im far from stupid I look at the number of instances open and the number of people in them.

I can see im not the only one who is feeling this way. I have been quite vocal and prolific on the forum so far. and have seen the level of outrage on them. far more then previous seasons. the other day suddenly a large number of threads Ive been following got closed all at once????

cencorship?? realy?? this is your responce?? The first sign of maturaty is the ability to admit your own mistakes. Take full responceablility for them, and work hard to corect them. All I see so far is a small micro mia copa in the stf dill thing. Unfoutunatly the problems run far deeper. You could get away with much in reduction in dill reward incress in dill cost if you had just made it the least bit fun and exciteing.

Insted you have made it dull and uninspireing. I do feel sorry for you that you have spent so much time and effort on this, but you missed the mark badly. For all our sakes I hope you can get past your ego's roll up your sleeves and fix this sooner then later. I would as a lifer like to enjoy playing your game agian as it stands now is just a chore, and thats just YUCK

I just don't see where you & some others are coming from:(. I have my own problems with things being half done. But season 7 is a boom for content. May very well being the most single drop of content since launch. A planet that is a game in its self. New STF's, new top armor, new level skill rewards, new vault, new 20 man mission! Forgive me I left something out I'm sure. But that's a lot of content.

well well well, if you look closely, most of the content on new romulus is the same just at another place. ok we have some new STFs and so on and i like them. The landscape on the planet is nice too but i can only agree to what the OP said. Maybe it will change once i unlock other area?s but for now, its not very exiting.

When i log into the game, i stand and walk around on new romulus to do the same missions over and over again. Then i do 1-2 STFS and thats it
    What ? Calaway.

    But but but....

    But but...

But... It works so well in china!

This would be funny if it weren't so true. Grindfest, pay to win, repetitive MMOs are all the rage in China, to such an extent that a Chinese man made videogame news headlines last year when he paid thousands of real dollars for a pay to win sword for his character in an MMO that hadn't even been released yet, and another guy in China died of exhaustion playing a grindfest MMO in a public internet cafe, but nobody noticed for a while because everybody around him was also too busy grinding.

I guess PWE thinks grinder MMOs are that popular here, or hopes they will be.

And that differs from American MMO's how?

Thought most of the outrage came from dil being nerf in a lot of places, now it's the content overall? Hard to please. lol
Say what you want about games like WoW, TOR, LotRO and others... They all have grind associated with them, but at least in those games they try to cover it up by folding it into other gameplay mechanics.

And they are nowhere near as brutal as the grindfests here.

I cannot believe I am actually about to say this, but if THIS is what STO is going to be all about, I wish it would be made more like WoW...

Think you need to go back and re-play some of those MMO's, they base heavily on grinding (Minus LotRO since I quit playing that when they told me to buy content just to progress pass level 15). lol They do mix pvp into it, but to be honest in most of those games to be any good in pvp, you need to grind for gear. Btw, WoW was a complete grindfest, not sure what you did in WoW but it was pretty brutal at endgame. lol

Now pardon me while I go vomit for having just said that...

You mean how TOR took on WoW yeah worked out well for them.

let's see TOR's F2P model....hmmm want to do anything gotta pay for it

want normal EXP points gotta pay for that, want to dress up your companion, gotta pay for that, want to change the color on your outfit gotta pay for that, wanna sprint gotta pay for that....etc

their grind.....kill X amount of rats to finish mission, bring X amount of meat for that mission....yeah American, and Chinese MMO's are really not that different.

They both want your money, and you have to grind something to get something if it's either Dilithium, or EXP, Currency.

But that's basically what New Romulus is..

A theme-park instance where you go from quest hub to quest hub filled with daily quests that you can only do once a day to slowly progress through reputation grinds..

Personally, I'd rather see them do something with the exploration clusters where you develop a colony while managing relations with the factions of that frontier. You might befriend one faction and gain benefits from them, but you'll make enemies of rival faction(s) in the process - having to protect the colony from raids and such. It makes much more sense, thematically, for this game than trying to turn into grindy wow-clone #92314.

The thing is what do you want?? No win situation;)

STF's are too long!!!! Takes forever and people bail
Answer: tear them apart & make them shorter
STF's are to short not enough challenge!
Answer add elite and new armor
It's takes to long to gather I hate random drops!! I play play play & not a maco drop!
Answer make it more grinding but a guarantee of getting your gear!
This sucks!! I have my gear already & don't like this!! Plus I want the new adapted now!
Everything you put out gets gobbled up like a fat man and thanksgiving dinner!
Answer reputation system so you cant get everything in one dose
    I want star bases!
I hate star bases I'm not in a fleet.
Plus it's takes hard work and time to build it!!
There is no content in game!
Answer a whole new sector to explore! New planet! New skill rewards!
I hate the new planet!! Done it all in a day and I now want new content! Where season 8!!
I hate space make it ground!
I hate all this ground we need more space!
I'm bored with the same STF!
Answer a new set if STF!

The hive is easy and boring!!! New STF plz;)
This game cost to much! Other games are free!
    Answer its free!
Omg it's a fire sale! I paid life and its free now?!?!
Cstore stuff cost to much now the game is free!
Answer don't spend a darn dime of real money! Grind it in dill & exchange for zen!
    I hate grinding for dill!!

I presume they were referring to instance counts(not event queues).. and seeing how many people were in each one when you change instance.

TOR's F2P model is horrible. They took a good game and made everything cost money, turning the game to ****. STO has a much better F2P model, but there's no good rewards for anything (Dilithium nerf) and we're being told to keep grinding the same content we've had for over a year. Both games seem determined to take what's good about them and ruin it with poor business decisions.

What is this 'pay to win' everyone keeps talking about? At what point do you need anything in the Z-Store to win an STF? Or *any* content in the game?

And the game doesn't have a big focus on PVP. Is there a single prize you get for PVP other than some accolades?

Seriously, you're not 'paying to win'. You're 'paying for some cosmetic features'. The two are really very different.
http://geekparty.com/an-open-letter-to-cryptic-studios/ My latest STO article, about the Summer Event. Where I admit that really...it's mostly about the outfits.

Agreed. The term is very trendy, but doesn't really apply in this game. I flew an Advanced Escort for a long time in eSTF. It had the MVAM on it that I moved from the actual MVAE, but I didn't necessarily activate it. In fact in cases where I didn't, it was just a waste of a console slot. When I did activate it, it was usually just for the boss since it makes you too squishy for the main part of the missions. Lately I run a Fleet Tactical Escort. Yes, this ship costs money, but it just makes the missions a little easier. It isn't at all necessary for Fleet Actions, Fleet/Romulan Marks events, or even STFs. I've seen a lot of freebie RA level ships doing just fine.

Most Zen Store consoles/abilities do not make that much differrence at the end of the day. They have wicked long cooldowns, and hardly qualify as click to win. Without proper buffs and good timing (player skill), most of them will fail to make much difference at all. For the most part, they're flashy and a bit of fun, but hardly game breaking.

PvP may be different. When competing against humans, a tiny edge makes all the difference. This is why I don't PvP much, it's too much damn work obsessing over minute differences. But, that's PvP. You have the same problem playing card games. Or even sports. There's always that guy who spent a fortune on his equipment and thinks it makes him better, but it doesn't. STO has very well maintained that balance. Zen Store ships may be the edge that decides a close match, but a good player means a lot more.

you want quality stuff or content you got to pay you want mmo that have more lockboxes and Cstore stuff addid to it you get F2P mmos like sto

say what you will about lotro or wow dude but lotro model is working for it 2 xpacks since going f2p now it may have not been your cup of tea but that is you

say what you will about wow but i can tell you this in wow im not time gated on a rep system like sto i can get rep for lots of things from doing quest to killing things to truning in things to runing what you would call a STF in wow... not to say it would not take me 3 months to get it exhaulted with any one only some one that can long on 1 hour a day week so on mite take that log

sorry but quality is not free that is fact

Oh remember when they changed to level up? the excuess was to end the grind of leveling up nby removing the patrols and upping the reward points for the "episodes." this had two major side effects that proved totally detrimental to the game. 1 the patrol missions were a great place for meeting peeps and fleet recruiting. 2 thye level up is so fast now noobs dont have a chance to really learn how to play the game befor they max out thier toon and start the stfs ect and make life misserable for those that do!

Now with season 7 they make the end game a total grind in so many ways, Yes new content is to be commended and love it. its the reputation system and the dilithium i have a problem with. They made getting dilithium a key to getting good gear now then take away all the ways you had to get it. then come up with thier Half baked compromise putting some back in stfs. Add to that the cost for fleet projects and u spend 90% of your game time running around doing BS.

As i said befor i used to spend an easy $100 a month on zen alone. that has stopped until i see some changes. In thier effort to force me to spend more they made me mad enough to spend nothing. Im still playing as i love the game and content but Im refusing to fall for thier greed.
